Im 19 and im 5'9 while weighing only 140 pounds. I used to box and I was in massively good shape. Over time ive lost all the muscle and now seem to be just skin and bones. I need a diet plan or at least some advice on how to put solid muscle back on and to bulk up just a tiny bit. If anyone has any advice Id truly appreciate it. Im trying to get back into boxing but first i wanna get my body back into shape. Thanks guys for whatever.
Eat a lot and work hard. Weights might help you get there and if that's the rout you want to go, look up Mark Rippetoes starting strength routine.
Pizza, McDonalds and all that **** keep away from man... You want to increase what you are eating when you are eating healthy and up your wholegrain carbs. Wheat rolls, brown rice, etc just double your portions and eat say 2/3 chicken/turkey fillets. I also would not recommend you eat steak or red meat, which is what a lot of body builders will try and convince you to do. It bloats your stomach and forces your body to work hard in digestion, messing with your training.
I'm 6 foot and about 147 pounds... and I am in pretty much my perfect weight class. You sure you wanna put on weight? Maybe you just want to get leaner, in which case train harder and lift heavy weights for a few months.
Yea aplin i think im trying to get leaner rather than looking so skinny. Im sure your in good shape, i believe thats the perfect weight for your body. The difference is that im sure you LOOK like your in shape, i get mistaken for weighing about 120 all the time because I cant seem to get that lean muscle look. So i should eat double but attempt to eat healthy. Also, should I run? Will running just make me skinnier or might it help lean me out?
My boy, the funniest guy on these boards still. Everything is all good, had a little move so havnt been around for a while. I got alot of time on my hands now to just sit around and do nothing so im sure ill be on the boards alot more often starting **** here and there. I havnt done that in a while so now im excited to get back to it. :good
Just get to the boxing gym man, it'll get you in shape. I don't understand why people think you need to show up in top shape, isn't that what the gym is for?
I would but right now i dont really have the money for it at all. I wanna get myself into shape while i get my money situation corrected. When thats all settled Ill head to the gym, but for now id like to get myself into shape as to not waste any time while im off.
Fair enough. In that case, run, swim, bike, lift, chop trees, whatever gets your heart rate up and muscles awake. Only boxing will get you in boxing shape, so in the meantime just get your overall physical fitness up. And eat well of course.
LOL, actually agree with you. If your ever around somebody who is BIG you usually can tell how they got that big...EATING!..if there fat it's usually eating/ laying around. Some people it's genetics no matter what, but usually it's simply from eating. If you seen a BIG weightlifter though you can understand why there big. There whole life is based on eating massive amounts, resting, and lifting. Food is much more important than exercise will ever be. I think they say it's something like 80/20...80% food, 20% exercise.
I don't think you can slap percentages on them. Let's just say one is useless without the other. You can have the best diet in the world, if you don't workout you'll never be in shape.
My brother doesn't lift at all, but he eats a lot and sleeps a lot, yet he is strong as **** and two or three inches taller than me. He's also 3 years younger than me. How do you explain that ****?
Manual labor? He's physically more active? If you do not exercise muscle, it will not grow. You will simply store the calories, whether they came from good or bad food. All the other nutrients in the healthy food will of course benefit you greatly, but not in terms of strength or muscle mass.
