His speech in the Countdown show is worse than ever, and it seems like he's struggling a little to put his thoughts together. I hope he doesn't get hurt this weekend and that he retires soon.
I didn't really notice anything different in the special. That dude loves to ramble, so he may sound a bit crazy, but he does take very good care of himself and hasn't taken that much punishment in his career.
I think you might be getting puchy. He looked good, plus that countdown made Pavlik look like a god and clear favorite
I agree the slur is there, and what Roach said to is also a concern as well, but you also have to look at his string of recent fights, the two he looked great in where against guys up there in age with him Tarver and Winky the others he didnt look so great in were Taylor and Calzaghe. Hopkins has opened up a big can of worms here and I hope he doesnt get hurt but I just dont see him comming out of this not hurt, Pavlik can bang.
I didnt notice any slur. Thats just how Hop sounds. Like an educated gangster with a Philly accent. I dont think he's taken that many clean shots in his career.
Nah, no slur with B-Hop. He's always spoken like that. Dude's in great shape, and because of his defensive style in the ring, he's never taken punishment.
I can't remember when Hopkins got punched enough times to make him "punchy". In what fight has he taken a lot of flush shots to the head?
BHop is not punchy at all...no slur that I noticed. Think about it, have you ever seen him get hit and wobbled? Ever? Not that I can recall.
I don't know if he's getting punchy...but I definitely think something's wrong with him judging by how Roach has been talking about him.
Fair enough. I hope you guys are right and I'm wrong. And maybe it is me who's getting punchy. :nut Seriously, though, I think some of you are failing to account for the damage sparring can do as well. Not to mention, all fighters get hit, and the damage incurred can increase as you get older. I'd love to see Hopkins win this fight and ride off into the sunset, but hopefully he'll call it a career very soon, either way.
I love when he says "has" where he is supposed to say "have" :rofl :rofl :rofl When talking about people giving him respect he earned "Now...they HAS to!"
