That's why Marquez is a champion, with the heart of a Lion. Could easily have given up right there.

The funny thing is Cortez could have stopped it right there after the 3rd knockdown, and no one would have complained.

Almost anyone would have stopped that fight. Thankfully, he let him continue. Just like being grateful Weeks let Corralles fight after the 2nd knockdown.

 

There are loads of great refs that may have stopped the fight after the third knockdown. Kenny Bayless for one. Marquez showed an amazing amount of heart and fortitude to come back from a round like that.

 

I think Marquez would have made his way up eventually, but far too late to make the impact he has. History would have been very different, fans would have been denied classics with those two + Barrera, and Pacquiao himself might not have become the fighter he himself went on to be.

It's one reason that, for all the bull**** and blunders, I am forever grateful to Joe Cortez.

That's some wishful thinking from any pac fan part but truth is he's got 3 controversial fights if the didn't have anything to prove there wouldn't be a 4th fight.Just for the record Marquez has always gotten up one more time then he's gotten dropped.Never been or will get KO'd in his career fact.Marquez has to stop pac or knock him down & win even more convincingly then the third.A very hard task for anyone when all odds are against him but he did it 3x before, I'm sure he'll go out swinging though regardless of result.Expect Marquez to give pac a 4th bloody war & win officially or unofficially.The useless what if's have to stop here's the facts.:deal
