I mean, how depressing is it to know that a fight like Rios/Matthysse can never happen? And that's just for starters.
We would also be missing a lot of classic, historic fights. You can't throw out the bad without throwing out the good. I wish he would step aside, but can't discount his past.
Hmmmm he is bad but he's done his share of good for the sport too... and no one builds fighters like him, well maybe GBP now
What a glorious fantasy this is. Pac-Mayweather (well, at least an easier path) Donaire-Mares Rios-Garcia Bradley-Khan etc,etc..
The key will be which entity or entities fill the power vacuum created by his absence. If one promoter, say GBP, picks up the majority of that power and clientele, we might not see a significant change in the boxing landscape. However, if Arum's power gets divided by a number of promoters, then we will see increased competition for tv dates and a greater incentive for the promoters to work together. Also, we will see an increase in the competition for the actual fighters, who will have multiple promoters attempting to sign them. More competition is better for everybody. Hopefully, that is what happens, but never discount the possibility of a well financed, already mobile giant to simply replace the dinosaur at the top.
If it wasn't Arum and GBP ****ing **** up, then it would just be another group of assholes. Boxing has always attracted assholes to it in regards to promoters anyway.
