And a good guard can be defeated by a good guard pass. It still comes down to who the better fighter is really. Even if it does have a sizeable effect on the fight, guys aren't going to totally change their game; a grappler is still going to grapple because that is what he knows how to win fights. What option is there, really? Don't fight your fight because your are scared? That just leaves you vulnerable to getting beat without the advantage you would have in whatever type of fighting you are more comfortable with.
There isn't much mechanical difference between dealing with a kick to the groin and dealing with a front kick to the stomach; There really is no effective stance as a defense against a kick to the groin that doesn't leave you very compromised to other attacks.
Yea but one big difference is that a kick to the gut likely won't stop you. A glancing kick to bare genitals can be niasty though. And I do think their is some diffrence...a slight side turn of the hips really helps to make it harder to land a groin kick
Obsessed with the balls aren't you!? I think people would adapt and fight the style that works best, just like fighters have today, they adapt to the styles that best fit the rules, in which case there are no rules. I would think that keeping it standing and trying for the KO followed by a quick neck snap of a ko'ed guy would be the preferred choice of style.
lol..but seriously.....i understand the whole mma argument of the stance..and why you do it for takedown defense and so you can pull guard if you are taken down....however...a open stance does make it much much easier to get kicked in the balls..and thats something you need to be concerned with in a anything goes street brawl.
