Usyk goes over, gets up, Bellew swarms him and big Tel o'conner waves his arms.

I dont even like Bellew but the tears would be incredible.

I'm not sure he hits harder than Briedis or Gassiev to be honest

At top level Bellew isn't a banger. Gassievs a banger, Breidis can bang...Bellew average puncher...Tears of happiness ??

He landed a lovely crisp counter in the 4th that would floor most guys. if Gassiev can't land, I don't much suppose that Bellew will either.

Gassiev landed a huge, huge right hand at the end of one of the early rounds that had Usyk holding on.

Tells us two things: Usyk has an iron chin and there are gaps there for Bellew to land. Lapses of concentration. Breidis landed a lot too.

Personally I think Usyk stops Bellew early, I just think the gulf in class is too much. However, Bellew is a bad, bad man if he actually signs up to fight Usyk. My respect for Bellew as a fighter would go up massively, not that he'd care what I think of course. It would be such a G move that even as an Usyk fan, I'd be inclined to support Bellew so long as he conducts himself well in the build up.

If Callum Johnson takes on Beterbiev and Bellew takes on Usyk it would make you proud to be British.

bellew is a lot faster than gassiev, he wont just stand there and let usyk land 500 jabs without throwing one himself

Ah yes, the famous 'stand there and do nothing' tactic that was evidently employed by Sanchez and Gassiev. Not the 'Usyk is an elite boxer who takes your tools away from you' ploy employed by Usyk and his team.

Gassiev is better than Bellew. Gassiev's issue at the weekend had absolutely nothing to do with speed but had everything to do with Usyk's incredible movement, work rate and feints. Bellew had a difficult enough time working Chilemba out, he'd be schooled by Usyk. He'd get iced by Gassiev as well

Usyks movement on the weekend wasn't "incredible" at all. It was perfunctory and gassiev was flat footed as ****.

Some opponents make certain fighters look amazing take bjs-lemiuex.

Usyk arguably lost to bredis, he IS beatable.

I wouldnt bet on Bellew but betting against him has proven folly in the past.

lol, even if you miss at least throw some jabs, usyk threw hundreds and gassiev with no head movement was hit hundreds of times by the jab, why didnt he at least throw a jab, he literally plodded round the ring not moving his head just looking for the one power shot that never came, your saying it was usyk's elite ability yet the semi final fight for usyk was a lot closer and more competitive, its like comparing linares to walters, lomachnko is obvsiously an elite boxer like usyk, but another top fighter would at least cause some problems, like linares did to loma and like breidis did to usyk, gassiev is more equilavnt to walters or sosa, overated and gets schooled against an elite boxer

For a Cruiserweight, yes it was. To be that mobile for that long at that size is a superb feat. Lemieux had been shown to be flat footed plenty of times in the past. Outside of a close fight with the underrated and weirdly forgotten Lebedev, Gassiev has wrecked everything in front of him.

Obviously he is beatable, everyone is. But a close fight doesn't equate to 'arguably losing' either. The tone of that suggests you scored it to Usyk yourself, which devalues the point a little.

You throw jabs at a moving target and miss, you get countered. Especially by someone of Usyk's level. Should Sanchez have tried to make him change his approach? Sure, but 'throwing your jab at air' isn't a tactic. That was I would say a career best performance from Usyk so far and when someone that good is on-song like that, there's very little you can do. Briedis gave him a good, tough fight but still came up short. Usyk moved a lot less that night, so perhaps the change in trainer has produced the best out of him.

I'm not hearing this 'overrated based on one fight and ignoring the rest of his career' nonsense though. It's pish.

Usyk is much like Lomachenko in that he’s took boxing to another level. It’s almost like they’re singlehandedly evolving the sport. Their skills are breathtaking. Usyk has amazing movement for such a big man and I believe he’s capable of beating every single heavyweight, too.
