Paulie had everything but a big punch. Speed, heart, high ring IQ, durable with a good chin. Despite his lack of power he still managed to become a 2x world champion. How far could he have gone if he had a bigger punch?
This content is protected "Relax, I'm a fighter" Even with power, Paulie would still get man handled by basement dwelling slob security guards who live off pizza and beer.
I hate Paulie for his crimes against Pac. I love seeing him getting knocked out. I hope he comes back and gets knocked out again.
i remember watching that live and genuinely burst out laughing at how ridiculous it was at 15x punch combo and the guy leaves it smiling at you
He gets hated on and good god that video is so sad, but fact is Paulie is a great fighter with or without power. His skills alone got him to the top tier of boxing. While Khan was too fast for him, he beat both Hatton and Juan Diaz (both times) in my book. All those others guys were too big for him. Power would have definitely change those loses.
In the Hatton fight Paulies corner threw in the towel, Paulie was still up on his toes at the time of the stoppage.
You're probably right, if he had natural power to begin with he probably would have developed into a different style of fighter. I just wonder how the Paulie we all know, would have got on in his career, if he also had power to go along with his skillset.
He had power early, but then he had a series of hand fractures. Be that as it may, an open hand slap from any man doesn't tickle. And make no mistake, he is strong- in almost every fight (the Hatton fight included) in clinches he walks his opponents around. Even at the end, his jab is A rated in strength, speed, and accuracy and has earned a stoppage on cuts in a title fight. I think the big miss was that he didn't also develop a left hook to go with that jab.
