Imagine turning down 3-4 fights for $100-120,000,000.

Imagine fighting your mandatory while underestimating him and getting knocked out, imagine all that money gone and down the drain. Only a man who sold out would do what he did.

The money shouldn't even come into it. What about the opportunity (x 2) to fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship? One face one name one champion... Really Deontay?

I have always rooted for Wilder, and likely will continue to do so. I want to believe he was offered a better deal somewhere else.

How he could turn down 100 mil and the opportunity to be the face or the other face of boxing is beyond me.

I hope no one told him DAZN doesn't treat black fighters well, and has something big lined up.

He's got nothing lined up, he said so himself he wants to stay a free agent so he won't sign any deal with any network, he's only willing to fight on a fight by fight basis so they'll be no multi-fight 8 or 9 figure deals according to him.

Latest excuse from team Wilder is that they turned it down because they didn't know what Joshua was getting. Which seems fair enough and goes back to them wanting 50/50 which lets be honest is a duck, Wilder isn't worth 50%, Joshua is about to make more money fighting Miller in the US than Wilder has earned his entire career.

Wilder also said he wanted to be in control, basically what Joshua said when he turned down the $50 mill. But when asked then when they'd make an offer to Joshua, they said they don't know and said in your life time, which doesn't sound good or suggest they are making any offers anytime soon. Finkel also said this fight could be as big as Mayweather/Pac and they need to see how big it will get before making an offer, which if true then confirms it's always been Finkel trying to delay this fight and let it marinate.

Wilder when asked why they could offer a deal now or repeat the $50 mill offer, Wilder basically told boxing fans to go **** themselves as he does things for himself not the fans.

A lot of these boxers aren't he sharpest tools. They really need o surround themselves around smart people they could trust. If Haymon is his advisor I have to wonder why he would advise against such a great contract. Also, why did he advise Mikey to move up and fight Spence knowing full well Mikey stood no chance, and why did he advise Quillin to drop his title and sit out for a year.

    I don't like his advise.
Why did he advise Mares to move up and fight the prime Tank?

    this is prize fighting.

fury should be holding the green belt and he would have been stupid to fight wilder again on usa soil after what happened. he should never fight wilder again unless he's in the uk.

Rumour has it that Wilder turned down the contract because there were too many zeroes in it

Rumor has it, DAZN and ESPN set the market rate for Wilder-Breazeale, and Showtime paid it to keep him on board for this fight.

Rumor has it that Deontay Wilder is the most FAMOUS BOXER in the WHOLE WORLD right now. http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/26113613/espn-world-fame-100-2019

Rumor has it Deontay Wilder is free to fight Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua in the fall ... and, unlike either of them, he's still a free agent.

Rumor has it Wilder's rates are going to keep going up, after another highlight reel flattening of Breazeale.

Rumor has it threads like this one are going to look about as dumb in 2020 as those saying "nobody knows who Wilder is" and "Wilder should take $5 million and be happy about it" from 2018 look now.

If Joshua turned down that deal I’d be very disappointed. Having said that, I think we’re all aware that Joshua could make around those numbers anyway, fighting whoever.

This is where perspective comes in, as many seem to have lost it; Deontay Wilder is a fighter that historically gets paid around 1 to 2 million dollars per fight! It was only his last fight that was PPV, but his reported take home was feeble, given that it is the second biggest fight out there for him. So, again, 1 to 2 million dollars, and he’s turning down those crazy figures from DAZN. Insane.

I’ve also just heard that he is now the most popular fighter in the world! Come on people, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why his name is coming up on google searches, YouTube searches etc. Hell, even I search Wilder news more than Joshua or Fury. However, I search it because of Joshua and Fury. And quite honestly, it genuinely provides comedy value.
