Imagine what kind of a fool Wlad would look like ....

if Chagaev (one of the most injury prone fighters next to Vitali) would get injured again during the buildup of this fight.

    It's not an unlikely scenario.
Wlad would've wished he had sticked with Haye.

    P.S.:
Anybody who has seen Chagaev fight knows this is likely going to end up in Klitschko-Ibragimov II (a terrible snoozefest). I would've preferred Klitschko-Haye with just a 3 week delay.

Gotta admit that I will be surprised to see Chag heading to the ring to face Wlad. Can't believe it could ever happen.

    Everybody better stay tuned.

I thought the same thing, I thought Chag would duck Wlad just like Valuev did, but the only reason he prob took the fight is because all the training he went through for months would of went to waste. And it would have looked real bad if two fighters who are fight ready both coward from fighting Wlad.

I lost alot a lot of respect for NV for pussing out from 2 fights

They had 10 fighters wanting the shot. They would just plug someone else in the slot.

It would be hilarious if Chagaev pulled out. I think his fight with Valuev was called off....what the day before?

The scariest scenario for boxing would be that Wlad somehow slips on a banana peal and actually loses to this clown. Then Chagaev would be champion, he won't fight anyone due to always being hurt or sick, or bored...
Fortunately there is no chance that Wlad could lose to a fighter like Chagaev. Wlad is too skilled and big and Chagaev is too slow, too small, and has little power and ring rust to boot.

same here but it looks like it'll be a lot longer. you can't expect wlad to wait for months on end for haye to heal. Hopefully he'll trash Chagaev in quick order and be ready in September

Wlad could fight them both three weeks apart since his jab shouldnt expend to terribly much energy on them

Damn. You are always on point man. :good

I hope Wlad is certain to put an "L" in this guys column for the sake of heavyweight boxing. Can't imagine Ruslan actually being an active champion that cares about his legacy. Both he and Valuev together have made the WBA irrelevant in the big scheme of things.

Why would Wlad look like a fool if Chagaev was injured? Did he look like a fool when Haye pulled out of the fight due to injury? I know a lot of the idiots here like to hold Wlad to impossible standards, but now he's in trouble for lacking the ability to scry weeks into the future?

First he said 3, now it is 7 I believe and might end up being more depending on the injury progresses. And of course if Wlad should win then the back would be his excuse.

If Chagaev pulls out then that should give Haye some time to recover and return to the fight against Klitschko, no?
This decision is business and not personal (well maybe a little) but both sides understand what's going on. I can't imagine Haye not wanting to get back in on the fight should WK-Chag fall threw, unless Haye enjoys shooting himself in the foot.

Imagine what kind of fool Vlad would look like if he agreed to Haye on July 11th, then Haye injured himself again. That would mean no fights for Vlad in 2009 until September.

In the end, powerful people at RTL, HBO, and Setanta have a big influence on what decisions big time fighters like Vlad make.
