Absolutely terrible officiating in the final round....Spencer collided into a rough clinch with Mannes and then struck her while she was regaining her balance on a knee - and somehow the ref docked a point from Mannes? Totally inexplicable how that could have been a foul by the one that got fouled.

Hopefully doesn't sway the result...but if this is a tight margin of victory for Spencer, well...

Round 1

Maderna comes out swinging, jabbing and hooking down into the head of the shorter Khataev. It's a slugfest, both loading up on big power shots. Khataev whips a few roundhouse rights into the body and tries a left hook up top, just missing the head of Maderna. Khataev is patiently watching as Maderna jabs at him from range, then quickly ducking in behind the goalposts to work the body. Maderna using some upper body defense and tying up when Khataev gets close. Maderna backed up by a couple of flash jabs and ducks into the path of a looping right hand from Khataev. Maderna with a 1-2 running in, partially deflected on Khataev's arms. Both working on the inside. Shoeshine into the face by Khataev. Maderna misses a left hook up top as Khataev loops a right into his ribs.

Round 2

Khataev is meeting Maderna in the middle of the ring and their heads clash. NASTY cut opened up on somebody, lots of blood, can't tell whose. The ref brings Maderna over to be seen by the ringside doctor on the ring apron. We're clear to go ahead. Khataev whipping hard rights into the body. Maderna backed into the ropes, Khataev also mixing in heavy left hooks downstairs, now opening up with unanswered head combos. Maderna bleeding profusely from the left half of his face - like, a LOT. Maderna reduced to mostly clinching, a few flurries, being blocked or ducked pretty easily by Khataev. Huge body shots ripped by Khataev.

They may as well just toss it now and call this one a NC. That cut is obviously going to get worse and ultimately cause a halt, and it was clearly the accidental head clash that caused it. Let them have a rematch on another day with both fresh.
