It's very strange that Joshua somehow gets credit because Fury beat Wilder. I say that because it is perceived as if Wilder was exposed, proving AJ always had better skills and therefore must be no.2. Yet, although the British boxing establishment and fandom have done their best propaganda job in recent times, to make everybody forget ... it is on record and will never be lived down ... AJ WAS STOPPED BY RUIZ. Then he ran away in the rematch despite being the far larger fighter and puncher. So if anyone was ''exposed'', it was AJ, not Wilder. Wilder stopped by the guy who beat Klitschko, there's actually no shame in it. AJ stopped by fat small HW with no impressive wins = SHAME. Joshua's two wins over 40 year olds outrank Wilder's two wins over a 40 year old Ortiz and compensate somewhat for the Ruiz shame. The Parker win of AJ is easily matched by Wilder's Stiverne win for the belt. Let's not pretend Parker has gone on to do anything special since a narrow victory over Ruiz. Then they have similar or even shared opponents. Conclusion, AJ should not be considered better than Wilder until he proves he can beat Wilder or Fury. He should be considered either around the same level or lower at this point.
I always think ratings should be based on results rather than potential even though I don't think potential should be dismissed by any stretch. With that 1 Fury 2 Joshua No question in my mind with the first two. After that, I think there is plenty of debate with 3 - 10 but here goes in a rather debatable 3 - 10 3 Povetkin 4 Pulev 5 Whyte 6 Parker 7 Ruiz 8 Wilder After this I think it can be far more arguable but... 9 Hunter 10 Chisora Open for debate. Could argue a place for Ortiz, Rivas, in the top 2, possibly Martin? With all said. I think Wilder is a good hw and would likely beat some who I have rated higher
I very much doubt AJ would try to avoid Wilders RH for the full distance, more like set up traps and counter. Wilder has a single punch offense in the main whereas AJ's offense is just far more varied, from the 1-2 to 4 and 5 punch combo's. I genuinely believe that Wilder would be every bit as wary of AJ's offense.
I’d still rank him 4th behind povetkin, can’t see him beating Joshua or Fury, if you rank him higher than povetkin I wouldn’t argue with you
i'd have it : 1 Fury 2 Joshua 3 Wilder 4 Ruiz Jr. Ruiz Jr. will drop out of the top 4 if he doesn't get a fight in the next 6 months, but since he has a brual TKO win over the #2 within the last 18 months, I don't see why he shouldn't round out the top 4.
