Undoubtedly the worst thing to happen to the U.K. in recent history is the schooling of Kessler by Ward... and popping the Calzaghe balloon
Joe should come out of retirement and defend his legacy. Cause his crown jewels, Kessler and Lacy, look like ****.
Instead of posting how Ward is ****, why don't the Calzaghe fans implore their idol to come out of "retirement" and face a skilled fighter under 40.
Calzaghe knew he was leaving himself open to this. He weighed the options and played it safe. Huge mistake.
For flips sake another ridiculous hating thread racism and boxing and hating seem to go hand in hand on these forums why? Ward fought a good bout and mostly outboxed kessler and also did butt and hold and duck him up but fair dues to ward why don't we get ward to fight active fighters like Hopkins and RJJ? Infact fight the winner of their fight next yea? Isn't that also part of the calzaghe legacy? What if ward loses' against Taylor? What happens then? Shudda whudda khudda etc etc let those who win their fights fair and square be able to celebrate it in such a manner if kessler is rubbish then so is ward's win but kessler isn't rubbish he just was rubbish in that fight and ward deserves credit for his win
Who is being racist? Did I say **** UK people or caucasians? Maybe because he's in this thing called the Super six its a SMW tournament where 6 elite fighters in the division are fighting to see who the best is. He just had one fight. So you suggest that he abandon it now and go after Hopkins and Jones Jr. Did you get dropped as a baby? Ward obliterated Kessler. Calzaghe only won a close fight. No woulda coulda shoulda about that. And so is calzaghe's and thats supposed to be his best win. Calzaghe is retired, Ward has a whole career ahead of him. G'day mate don't let the door hit you on the ass.
That's why I wished Calzaghe would have fought Dawson. Win or lose it would have done wonders for his legacy. Dawson is a the real deal unlike Kessler who was way overrated.
And the fact is, even if he lost, people would just throw the age factor out and dismiss the loss(as is done with many names on his own resume). It was a win-win situation for him and a fight i feel he could've won. Just a shame.
Exactly. He had an easy out if he had lost. Losing to a young hungry fighter and IMO it wouldn't have hurt his legacy one bit.
