    yes.. because

    1. even at 35, he was in the form of his life, and looked better than ever.

    2. he was waiting a LOOOOOOOOOONG time for a shot like that, and knew he may never get another one again, there was no way he was going down without a fight

he may very well retire now, if he does, I think he can hold his head up high

respect for Magee ; he could've fought Sartison as he was a challenger to regular WBA; i've heard that Stieglitz wanted him too; by choosing Bute he proved that he wanted the harder fights

he wanted one big shot at glory, not fighting sartison in a dark hall in an untelevised fight.

I was impressed with him too. Not only did he have to wait in the ring for 20 minutes and fight in fron of thousands of Bute fans, but he got up from some brutal body punches and came right back. Respect to Magee.

Bute looked very vulnerable to me. He gets hit a lot more than he should. Partly overconfidence, but a lot of it is hes used to fighting with his hands low against orthodox fighters cause he knows where the punches are coming from, but he has trouble with southpaws. I think Kessler has a great chance at beating him as long as he fights disciplined like he did Calzaghe and Andrade and not as wreckless as in the Froch fight.

mcgee not bad for a guy that should be ranked about 15 or 20th in the world, old bald guy.
the fact that supposedly the rings #1 168 pound guy looked like crap against him doesnt say much .

I was working, so I didn't get to watch the fight. After reading your post I can't wait for it to show up on You Tube. Great Post!

It´s in Tube. I watched it and have nothing too bad about Magee. Better than Brinkley, that´s for sure but wouldn´t have too much of a chance against Ward, Dirrell, Kessler or even Abraham and didn´t have one against Bute.

Magee gave Bute a decent opposition and Canadian people a good fight, but didn´t just have any tools for victory.

I like Bute, his open fighting stance and monstrous hooks are a pleasure to watch but this fight was just like Brinkey -bout. It´s like they are just made for Bute´s fans. Bute is too good for this level-fighters. It´s time for him to test his metal in the big leagues. I really hope that the fight with Kessler comes through.

I knew it. ;) The worst are the haters. They **** on every Bute's opponents. If he wins, it's normal, if he loses, look, he lost to a bum! :nut

Magee will be remembered as a courageous gentleman over here.

I feel Magee would have a chance against Abraham and would give a good fight to the others.

Arthur would be a good match-up for Bute. AA´s immobility and his high-guard makes him a sitting duck for Bute´s wrecking ball -like hooks. But Magee would lose to AA IMO.

I hope this is'nt a lame attemp by a Bute stain to pump up Magee in order to wax fabuous about Bute....Magee is tough but its not like he did anything he wasnt supposed to ie..come in and give a spirited effort and get canned.

Bute needs to step up the opposition to justify the hype and middle age mid level Euro fighters with grit wont do.
