I know I'm late but I was very impressed with Rigondeaux. He showed a fury that I have not seen in him before. He was merciless. In recent fights I saw potential, skill and boxing ability against inferior comp, but I was waiting for Ramos to land a bomb just to see how Rigondeaux reacted. He slaughtered Ramos. Ramos looked bigger too. Rigondeaux looked fast and strong. I was extremely impressed. Ramos looked scared at times. Imo, Ramos didn't believe Rigondeaux was as fast as he was, and I know he didn't think Rigondeaux was as strong a puncher as he had previously shown. I think Ramos was glad the fight was over. Donaire/Rigondeaux is one of the best fights that can be made today. In fact I rank it as a top 5 fight that can be made in boxing today. I was so impressed with Rigondeaux that right now Donaire/Rigondeaux is a pickem fight for the moment. I was favoring Donaire, and I still do, but Rigondeaux is a true threat.
I got rigo for the late round kayo. Ramos's body language deeply implied that he knew he was totally outclassed.
In his last fight before Ramos he showed great attack against Willie Casey stopping him in one round in Casey's hometown in Ireland.
Shouldnt be a suprize at all. 380 amatuer wins. 2 gold medals. Should of been 3. But the fight was boring and frankly i wasnt that impressed cause ramos sucks and scraped by his last night. Ramos is a scared kitten. Lets see how he does will a real warrior. No disrepect to him but im jumping on the wagon.
Ramos was impressive against Shimoda, and fought through adversity to pull that win off, and was more then capable fighter. I think Rigo will go on to have an impressive career. I also hope for Rico Ramos' future he don't disappear, because the kid isn't bad at all.
Yeah, I would like to see him a tougher fight, Ricos pantys was showing all fight long but Rigo still beat that ass like he was supposed too.
He fought that same way against Will Casey. Rigondeaux is such a frustrating fighter to watch, because he shows aggressiveness in small bursts, and even when it's effective and he's not running into much in return, he still falls back in to counter puncher mode. Against Ramos in round one, when Rigondeaux went on the offensive, Ramos was overwhelmed and had no answer. Yet, it took Rigondeaux five more round to go on the offensive again..and when he finally did, he got the stoppage. atsch
Yea I definitely agree. When I watch him I see a guy with so much talent and the ability to be so explosive and dynamic against anyone he fights. Most guys will not have any sort of answer to his offense, yet he decides to coast. I never understand this, when you can easily get the guy out of there, be impressive, gain fans, why wouldn't they?
It's probably hard for him to break out of the mode because of his amateur days. Lara and Gamboa have a tendency to just coast through fights also
