    Yeah but is it just me or does it seem to be shortening some careers ? I mean the constant headbanging from that age will affect a lot of people.

    Early trauma-related degeneration? They are still kids and their brain is growing. Though keep in mind after mid twenties the brain stops regenerating any new neurons. I would assume the children still have a healthy brain full of active stem cells keeping them well and cognizant until they reach a certain age then after the damage becomes permanent.
