It teaches you about oral stability in movement. On the log everything movement wise, is the opposite of the direction your mechanics are taking you, lose posture of the head you lose everything. Better to do it barefooted.
And why on earth would you need to do that in a healthy person? What makes proprioceptive receptors on the skin any more or less important than the proprioceptive receptors in muscle, joints, ligaments etc.?
Absolute stupidity. Even with all the evidence in the world that it doesn't have any transfer to anything else you'd still repeat your same nonsense. You move your head and you can still maintain good posture if your eyes and vestibular system are working. You need to shut up about your 'oral stability' ****, you're talking about something very simple - the vestibular system. And you have a poor understanding of it.
Some of you guys are beyond childish. Want better balance for boxing? Do boxing stuff. Shadow box, do the soviet/Cuban set up w the different rope lengths or hand wraps, practice walking forward while jabbing then make it a 1-2 then a 1-2-3. If all of those things aren't obvious, how long have you tried to box? Standing on a medicine ball helped ME once I had gotten a solid foundation. Just like some guy told me in another thread jumping rope wouldnt help your punching power lol. There are times to be basic and times to be esoteric.
Also practice moving in and out how floyd Andre ward Sergei kovalev Tofalio Stevenson did. I think they call it the paso pendelo? Or Cheklov? The name escapes me. Likewise when you're jabbong and your left foot pivots slide your back heel hard to become parallel with your front--basic circular movement.
Standing on a medicine ball made you a dummy standing on a ball for no reason. And of course a skipping rope doesn't improve your power, who has ever even been stupid enough to think a skipping rope can have anything to do with power? Unless you do triple unders for 10 seconds then rest for 3 minutes.
