Well, your always going to feel it, but to lessen the damage you got to learn how to tighten up when you see the punch heading that direction, thats why working with the medicine ball is so important, since you can do them you said, try twists, you can use a medicine ball or take a Broom stick handle and prop it behind your neck, keeping your hands on the stick, shoulder width apart, you then want to twist to each side going back to the starting point each time, do 3 to 4 sets of them in the morning, that should help you out a little bit.

Oblique twists, as I explained a couple posts ago, also you could do the same version with a partner at your gym, stand back to back with your buddy, handing the medicine ball off to each other, this will be more intense than twisting with a broom stick, try and make a game of it, like the first person to give up or gets tired, has to buy you lunch afterward, make it a best out of 3 or something, you will really feel it in your oblique area after you guys are done.

Do crunches while scssoring a bench with you legs while on your side.
    And then medicine ball.
Get someone to throw it at you.

I read the topic title and was like, yep its the liver. Nothing like landing a well placed shot to the liver and seeing them fall.:yep

Core exercises and the Med ball. And also a good defence, tight guard, elbows in.

How about throwing hooks, obliques are partly responsible for the torso twist.
