I was watching some early Pacquiao fights yesterday and noticed how much his hand speed has improved in his recent fights.

I was wondering what techniques Roach uses to do this?
I've seen some using like a resistance band, do these work?

Bands, dumbells, heavy gloves, all are suggested. I was fortunate enough to be blessed with fast hands.

    LIFT WEIGHTS
You can't get fast if you don't lift a lot of weights.
    Bicep curls are the best.

    What??

I agree with TheRock49. You can also use small hand weights when shadowboxing (up to 2kg per weight).

I've used 2kg weights for about 2/3 months when shadow boxing and my hand speed is noticably quicker. Some people say that it upsets your timing, but it hasn't affected mine.

Another advantage of shadow boxing with weights is that it helps keep your hands up.

I have the opposite problem, my hands are fast but whenever I hit someone it just buzzes them instead of really hurting them.:|

underwater punching as far as i know is the best way
there is no tension on the shoulders so you can throw relaxed punches because your arms r floating and the resistance against the punch is perfect
slightly heavier gloves would also help when you are doing bagwork
you can also do explosive torso twist excercises on a cable machine

Added to the physical things mentioned above, my trainer once told me something that made so much sense...

    "Think about speed."

If you think about being fast and having speed, you can improve your speed. Some people are naturally inclined to punch fast, while others have to be a little more conscious of it to improve speed. Like for example...if you walk at a certain pace and your buddy walks at a faster pace, if you think about walking as fast as him you can do it, even though your natural tendency is to walk a little slower.
