I mixed up something, Grachev didn't fight Szello in amateurs.

Szellö is victorious; didn't catch the scores.

Szellő was training in Ukraine for the fight, he also sparred Usyk. But he spent last night in the hospital, he had the flu and fever.

Now that you mention it, yeah, they debuted in the pros seven years apart so it would've been unlikely (but I guess still possible) they would've met in the amateurs.

Decent performance then, considering that. Grachev was his usual very game but very limited self that we've come to expect.

This was a decent little scrap at CW.

Too bad about Szellö having the flu, because we might have seen him more dominant and gotten a better idea of where he fits in the picture at 200lbs - especially with the void about to be left with both of the WBSS finalists both planning an exodus to heavyweight. Knowing where Szellö stands vis-à-vis Briedis, Dorticos, Głowacki, Diablo, Lebedev, et cetera would be nice, but suffice to say he looks to be at or at least near that upper echelon.

As for Grachev, he seems to have carried his power & chin up from light heavy but he's still very basic. Seeing as he is now officially 0-5 in his last stretch of meaningful fights (and really ought to be 0-7, considering the gift over Zsolt Erdei, meaning he is without a legitimately acquired high-level scalp dating back all the way to Sillakh almost 6 years ago) we probably have seen the last of him in main events, on even a small Hungarian card like this.

Szellö should get something his meaningful his way this year or next if he keeps this routine up.

As far Grachev goes a rematch with Sillakh would be sweet....

They're showing hyped up 4-0 Hungarian middleweight prospect Balázs Imre Bácskai now, either on tape delay from early on the undercard or in a walkout bout.

Balázs Imre Bácskai vs. Meshack Mwankwema, 6 rounds @ middleweight.

10-9 Bácskai, nice work rate off the bat, keeping his Tanzanian foe covering up and on the move.

Or feed him to Vlasov. :deal:

Crazy to imagine that a few years ago, down at 175lbs, that would have seemed a 50-50 match-up but now I'm quite certain Max would violate Denis.

20-18 Bácskai, not sure about his power, but he does have a nice engine on him and fires off tidy combinations almost nonstop. Mwankwema sort of acting like a sparring partner, though, not offering much resistance.

    Bacskai has no power unfortunately.
