Floyd is a great fighter no doubt but he's not the kind great fighter where somebody can say: The Sugar Ray Robinson of his time : The Muhammad Ali of his time : or The Floyd Mayweather Jr. of his time.

he'll be remebered as an ATG. With 7 victories over 6 HOF's.

That will mae top 80 of all time. Maybe even top 50

I agree, he could be much more if he had the same hunger and bravery he had when he was a riing featherweight champion.

Or much less, if he'd loss to all the bouts he didn't make. Maybehe avoided cotto Margo and Manny for a reason. He'd have lost to them all

In 30 years from now there will be great algorithms to prove all the great fighters he ducked and it will probably be a term down the road a fighter taking the "Mayweather" path synonomous with padding ones record.

I dont particularly like Floyd but you cant really argue that he is already an ATG, just not especially high. If he fights and beats Pac and Martinez then yes people will talk about he era a la SRL/Ali. Personally though I think thereh is little chance of beating either and even less chance of him actually facing either one.

As someone mentioned previously his ZERO losses (which he will retire with) dont mean a whole lot when you consider who he didnt fight.

In 30 years Void will be remembered as the chicken in the Rocky movie. Void is void.

so now he has to beat martinez to be considered great? so he has to jump up two weight divisions just to fit the billing?

i think people will appreciate floyd once he retires (the roy jones syndrome). by this i mean, once people can look at his body of work without bias, then he'll be appreciated...but that's going to take years from now. his style and attitude alienates him from the casual fan and those who thirsts for all out brawls. i, for one, like watching a boxer do his thing (like floyd) as much as an action fighter (like a pacquiao).

and if we're going by the "he's the srr/ali of his era" criteria then the ATG list is EXTREMELY slim.

I don't think people really care if Floyd come to hit and run. Although that style is not really pleasing, what people really want is to see you in a fight where they don't really know who's going to win( or you're an underdog). It's reason like this that Floyd has other important boxing people like, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, and countless others calling Floyd a chicken.

He will be remembered as an ATG ducker.

In 30 years time, other boxers will be compared to Floyd on the basis of how much they duck.

    For example:

Boxing Fan #1 "That guy is such a gutless *****. I rate him a 9 on the Mayweather-Haye scale"
Boxing Fan #2 "Even as bad as Bowe?"
Boxing fan #1 "Are you kidding? Bowe was barely an 8 on the Mayweather-Haye scale!"

eh they can have their opinions...doesn't matter to me. that's how they feel.
as far as the "ducking" goes...it's already been discussed to death...would be beating a dead horse to get into it.

but to summarize that...funny how all the fighters he supposedly ducked are under a certain shitty promoter

Hi Nostradamus, that's all well and good, but how about giving us the results for all the major boxing events for the next 30 years so I can make some $$$

I fear you could be right, thread starter.

Mayweather could go down in history for all the wrong reasons.
