i tend to agree with you, as much as i hate to say it because floyd really is a great fighter.
it's not that he hasn't fought some pretty stiff opposition in his time, he has, but it's that he talked and talked himself up and became undone because there happened to be another great fighter in his era who barely said a word about anyone, beat the three great mexican fighters of his time, and then rifled through the weight classes to leave a gaping hole in the 'where is floyd when it matters most' argument...and there really is no excuse this time.

if pacman was not around people would have a legitimate case to defend floyd based on the fact that there really is nobody else to rival his ability, but pacman is here and floyd's self-imposed 'greatness' just took a serious nose-dive if he doesn't ante up.

"The Manny Pacquiap of his time"

That would be one specific boxer... All of us here sincerely hope we never see another steroid taking, ducking, has-been fighting, weight manipulating fighter to refer back to Pacquiao as

Yeah, I can see that, remembered as an incredible ring technician and tactician but mostly by boxing fans and not as one of those real big names that even the average person would know (like Ali or SRL)

    thats not true.
different era means fighters in the public eye will be remembered.

i'm willing to bet more beercan fans around the world know who floyd mayweather is more than manny pacquiao.

EDIT : but only because floyd has done his best to stay in the media talking about himself and has fought at weights that gain more widespread media attention internationally.

big fights at lower weights don't get much love internationally as a rule.
