Boxing might get more popular I think. The novelty of MMA has worn off.

It will be the same as now. People's blood lust, competition, and vicarious need for violence need to be satisfied somehow. On top of that you have different ethnicities, countries, and regions competing and there is always demand for that.

Boxing goes up and down so if it does go down in 5 years, maybe the next years after that, it will go back up. More and more special fighters will pop up to hype us up again eventually…

It depends entirely upon the world champions and the judges at the ringside. If the best not fighting the best and bad decisions continue to occur then boxing will decline definitely in 5 years.

not sure I’d say decline but it sure as hell aint increasing. It is all pay to see and the price arent coming down. You must have Espn, Showtime , or Dazn to watch regular fights. Big fights are all PPV.

It has been around for thousands of years, so I am sure you are right.

However, due to endless screwjobs, title proliferation, wrong-guy-won fights, and just general not fighting each other, it will continue to grow smaller and more niche.

I don't think so. Not when I just recently saw a fat teen at the mall wearing an MMA t-shirt. Like you'll never catch a fat teen wearing a Pac or Floyd t-shirt.

You see Tyson or Ali t-shirts, but that's just pop culture/cultural representation rather than love for the sport.

Boxing will be fine. There might be some ups and downs in some of the categories, but will always have enough stars and good and great fighters.

I think the real threat is the number of American youths that actually participate in boxing, like at least punch a bag even if they don't fight.

Yeah but 10 years ago it would have been an attractive, popular teen wearing the MMA shirt.

Hard to predict. Boxing will always be one of the niche sports, I really only know a couple of people that really follow it, it will never reach the heights it once reached. But it won't die either as there's something about the sport that still draws some people.

There's always a worry that once the big names go like Joshua, Canelo etc that we'll struggle to find the next mainstream star and that's always an issue for many sports, athletics for example has not really every recovered from Bolt retiring, UK athletics is basically bankrupt and circling the drain. There might very well be a lull until someone else can inspire the casuals to tune in.

But then again the growth in interest generated from influencers such as Youtubers boxing may see a new younger generation of younger fans brought into the fold of boxing. Events like creator clash fill huge arenas to watch for the most part are terrible fights, but they promote the crap out of these events as those fighting may not know how to box but they know how to engage an audience.

I don't know anyone who watches boxing anymore. The constant robberies. The corruption. The ducking. The cherrypicking. The real ones getting crucified for losing after taking the risks the fake ones never would or dare do but still get praised to high high heaven and worshiped like gods by their bands of zero integrity insecure fangirls who turn a blind eye to the corruption just as long as their guy or member of their tribe gets the win via hook or crook etc. It pushes and turns away fans in their droves.

No wonder boxing is a niche sport given all of that. It used to be a warrior sport and the domain of real men but now it's the domain of charlatans and cowards and I'm officially done with it. Real talk. I'm the best fighter on the planet - including all sizes, because there is not a man born from his mother who can beat can beat me. :deal:

Probably about the same. More global even than now. A little less popular in the States. Nothing unrecognizable.
