In a era of Amir Khan fighting blown up featherweights, Calzaghe ducking Pavlik for yet another 40 something and Jeff Lacy 'retiring' because $500,000 ain't enough money, or Floyd retiring because he has too much money...

...It's refreshing to see a champion honour the other big man in his division. To put it all on the line in a fight he could well lose (and did).

If it wasn't for the Puerto Ricans and Mexicans, this sport would never be as popular as it is.

Last night has refreshed the sport. For too long the forums of internet boxing land have reeked of putrid promoter's, paper champion bums with padded records - all ducking and diving their way into the boxing fan's wallet.

Amidst little fanfare, 2 warriors spilled their blood and guts to see who was the bigger man, with their country on their shoulder's they rode into battle.

Let us rejoice this moment of 'REAL' boxing for a moment before the news changes to a paper champion saying another contender 'is not well known to HBO enough' to fight... or 'They are not worthy of a shot at my title' before giving a has-been / never-was fighter a good beating for the good of the 'sport'

Miguel Cotto & Antonio Margarito - i salute you sirs

    Right on.

Ricans and Mexicans make this sport what it is. Anyone who says otherwise is a dickstain on the pants of humanity.

:bbb Last night's entire card was great.
Topped by a classic fight between Warrior's.
Cotto & Margarito put on a classic fight and clash of styles.

2 fighter's at their absolute top of their game.
No excuses, Noting but respect to both.

    Congrat's to Tony Margarito.
You proved all the fool's wrong bro.

reminds me of boxing back in the 80's when champs aspired to prove they were the best.

Juanma vs Ponce de leon was another good match-up of this nature.

Cotto's father was in hospital apparently the night before he fought. Although Miguel's nose wasn't broken apparently..
