In any other sport would people believe an athlete who refused drug testing?

Same old crappy threads popping up as always after a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight - I think its safe to say that this fight wont happen until Pacquiao submits to random drug testing. That is it, plain and simple.

What I can't understand though is why people say this is Floyd making an excuse? Blah blah blah... in what other sport be it golf, football, basketball or even motor racing - if an athlete turned round and refused to be tested for drugs before a competition would we not be suspicious of him? Instantly people would assume he is hiding something so why not with Pacquiao?

Remember this, these tests only require a teaspoon of blood - Pacquiao will loose more through nose bleeds in sparring so this whole loosing blood weakening him nonsense really doesn't wash!

Regardless of who would win the fight, this is irrelevant why is more pressure not being put on Pacquiao to take the tests when its clear this is all that stands in the way of the fight happening?

No, if athletes in other sports refused random blood and urine testing, everyone would think he was a fraud.

Look if when Usain Bolt broke the world record he refused some kind of new testing he would IMMEDIATELY called into question.

Pac should take the test and get it on!

People just cannot get past their hatred for Mayweather.

A drug test isn't going to adversely affect Pac man so his fans should put pressure on him to fight Floyd once and for all.

no-one refused drug testing. pac adheres to the testing criteria that every other athlete in the sport adheres to.

take your comparison further; if chelsea refused to play man utd today unless every man utd player was subjected to extra drug tests that no-one else in the sport required & had never been asked for before; or the game was off...

who is out of order in that situation?

Regardless of the current rules (which are for economic reasons), Floyd has asked him to take stricter tests. Pacquiao has never provided a justifiable explanation as to why he does not want to take stricter tests.

In follow up to your second point... if Man Utd players refused to take drugs tests would you not also question them? So again what I said in my original post still applies - if any player refused to submit to drug tests you would question why and assume there was a reason for it.

Besides this is an irrelevant comparison as the structures of the sport are entirely different... I can't even begin to go in how ridiculous an arguement it is.

If the testing in Football was inadequte and everyone knew it. Not to mention that Man U were willing to take the same test therefore neither team would be getting an advantage there is nothing wrong with it.

Not to mention, Usain Bolt, Rafa Nadal, Lance Armstrong etc etc all take the same blood and urine testing. Good enough for them? Good enough for Pac man!

So what is the problem with him taking the tests Floyd's asked for? These arguements avoid answering the question by starting another one...

As for Floyd making up rules - Pacquiao is the only fighter who has won a world title at a catch weight that I no of so don't try that argument.

And again, there is still no logical argument to justify why he won't take the tests.

in any other sport, would a rival team or player ever ask for the rival team or player to be drug tested? Answer this first.

Obviously if some governing body had asked pac to testand he failed to comply, then this would definitely be suspicious. This did not happen.

according to a recent episode of dispatches; the testing in football is inadequate. it's not the place of the players to change that.

& good enough for EVERY BOXER CURRENTLY BOXING good enough for pacman. :deal

If person "A" says he will take the test?

and person "B" said person "A" won't take the test, and goes on with "Take the test" jabber.

Will that person "B" wins the idiot award?

    floyd doesn't make the rules.

if floyd wanted a 100 foot ring or the fight was off...& pac said "no...we go by the rules of boxing, you don't make the rules" it would be the same.
