In boxing how useful is it to watch opponent's feet to predict when/if he is about to lunge forward?

    Try this in sparring, look at your opponents feet. You’ll get beaten up.

    I think it's at least more effective as watching the ceiling. I've seen many boxers do that, and only a very select few (think Dirrell) managed to win that way.

    You don't have to look down at a fighters feet to see his foot movement. Your eyes see everything and your reflexes react accordingly.

    Norton did that in his first fight v Ali because Futch told him Ali would 'tell' before jabbing with his chest movement, Norton timed his jab with Ali`s brilliantly in that bout.
