Classy post and I agree. I dont like how many some posters talk about him here like he is garbage.

 

Not so sure I'd call him "great," but I do think he's very good and deserving of respect. I'd like to see him fight Witter at 140 as well. He deserves another good payday for such a courageous performance.

I saw acb comment about this earlier, but it sure is easy to trash a fighter online when you're not the one taking punches in the ring.

Ricky fought his ass off, and wasn't getting any help from the ref.

As I've said in other threads, I had Ricky up by 1 point going into the 10th round. The only difference in my card and Lederman's was that Lederman gave Mayweather the 7th and I didn't.

Ricky barely landed more than 3-4 clean punches on Mayweather. The fight was not even close.
All Hatton did was hold, push and walk sqaurely right into Mayweathers punches.

 

he won at most 3 rounds. He's a good fighter and a good champion...needs a few more good fights against quality opponents at 140 to solidify his legacy.

the plain fact is, he had the speed for 147, he just didn't have the power/strength. At least he didn't back down.

I mean, no one dogs corrales when he lost to pbf...so don't dog hatton. even when he was losing he was gonna try to win. That in my book counts a lot.

Size is not an excuse. If anything, Mayweather is the smaller guy. He moved up from 130lbs and Ricky has fought at 140 pretty much his entire career. Ricky's natural walking weight is also 160-170 lbs whereas Floyd walks at more or less the fight weight.

 

I believe I gave Hatton three rounds, which was probably on the high end. It was a competitive, entertaining fight, but the outcome wasn't in doubt after the 6th or 7th.

 

I've become a tremendous Hatton fan following last nights action, and even the pre-fight hype...and the post-fight conference. It was a great night for boxing. It really was. It was everything Oscar and Floyd should have been.
