In every sense of the word, a "Classic" performance from Hopkins tonight.

Wow. I have to say, even if you are not a fan of the man, you don't like his style, his fouling antics and liberties with the rules, his losses to guys like Taylor or Calzaghe... You've gotta say that he laid it all on the line tonight, threw and landed more leather than a younger defending champion and made sure they couldn't take it away from him this time... And apparently plans to make more fights against dangerous guys like Bute and (the admittedly less dangerous) Dawson. That's a real warrior, the kind we worship on here.

The guy ****ing rules. When you go around referring to yourself as a legend all the damn time, you better be able to back up the claim. At 46, B-Hop continues to provide the evidence.

As soon as I saw this I knew there was no way he was going to lose. I was confident from the start but that was just some alpha male ****.

Good post. Fixed your last bit though. No need to attempt to qualify Bute over Dawson when Bute has fought absolutely no one while Dawson has beat Adamek, Johnson, and Tarver (albeit old versions of the last two).

Don't fix ****. Bute is clearly a more daunting prospect to an aging fighter than Dawson. Has little to do with how good you perceive either to be at the moment and everything to do with the fact that Bute is a big, incredibly heavy handed guy with much better fundamentals than a guy like Pascal. To me it's like his version of the Lebedev fight, might just be too much.

It was an amazing performace by Hopkins and even more so considering his age. From what I saw tonight I would exspect him to beat Dawson. I don't know how much longer he can keep it up but looking at him tonight he looks like he has a few good fights left unless he gets old overnight.

No. Quite WRONG. Everything Bute does .. DAWSON can do and BETTER. He is rangier, longer, slightly taller, quicker, and proven. Bute has fought NOBODY. While Dawson is flawed and imperfect he is certainly more proven than BUTE. What I corrected was your attempted comparative between the two. I'm not doubting that BHOP may be walking a bridge too far (with either or both) and even if not, will inevitably as age is no friend.

Dawson has the quickness and size to theoretically provide an even greater obstacle and problem to the aging BHOP. Bute may prove a problem ... it remains to be seen .. AS HE HAS FOUGHT NOBODY YET.

SEEMING heavy handed when you only fight LIMITED (make that INCREDIBLY LIMITED) athletes is not the same as proving that fact against a higher caliber opponent. Beating the Brinkley's, Magee's, Miranda's, & Andrade's of the world says little about Bute's ability to do ANYTHING better than Dawson.

experience is King and Bernard has not had a lot of wars in his 60 fights and I think a stronger 175 than 160lber Archie had a lot more fights and wars but not to take from B-Hop Archie beats Pascal....amazing performance of our time at 46 years old and something (experience level) you will not see from a 20-30 year old......experience but also lets not forget the condition to be able to carry out your game plan.....

It's amazing to have such a old school fighter in this generation. His boxing brain is great, it'd be very interesting so see him against Bute/Ward
