    Agreed.

Also, in fairness to the ref, it was a tough call. No benefit of a replay.

I also think it should have been ruled a slip. The fight was very close. I had 113-112 for Mares if I consider it a KD. Anything from 114-111 Mares to 113-112 Vic range could be acceptable. I tough Mares did a little more, but it would not be a robbery if Vic was given the win.

yes, bul**** call and Vic is my guy but mares deserved the win with his late rounds rally. But Vic at age 34 is still incredible, that fight had me on the edge of my seat

That was definitely the right call, definitely a knock down. Darchinyan was balanced on one foot, while swinging the other foot around, squaring up, when he got touched with a light punch, but a punch nonetheless. He slipped and was off balance, but a punch still landed. Therefore, folks, that was a legitimate knock down.

    ^^Yup.

It was a KD It's not Mares fault Vic was backing up and after landing a Jab it pushed him to the ground..

It was a KD not a slip.

All acceptable outcomes in my book. The only way there would have been a problem is if one of the cards had been 120-108 or some **** like that.

Mares punched him and he fell. I think it was a legit knockdown. It's not Mares' fault Darchinyan had no balance when he punched him.

As per the rules, it was a knockdown.

I scored it 113-112 Darchinyan. He didn't win by a bigger margin, and depending on what you value, Mares winning 114-111 is fine too. Either way, very good, very close fight.

If a punch lands on an off balance fighter, even a soft one, it's still a knockdown.

That was a hell of a fight. I had Mares eeking it out in the end, but I have to think that if Vic were a couple years younger he would've won it. Vic was countering beautifully, but the young bull was just too much for him by the championship rounds. 34 is ancient by bantamweight standards, especially for a fighter so reliant on reflexes, but he made Mares work 100% to get that W. Abner deserves credit for overcoming a still-dangerous Darchinyan and coming back in a fight where absolutely nothing was going his way early.

I'm going to miss it when Vic finally hangs 'em up. I wish he'd shown the ability to alter his gameplan and become a more well rounded fighter earlier in his career when he was at his physical peak instead of waiting so long to show he could do it.

Had it 114-111 Mares, also had him shading the Perez bout earlier in the year. Delighted he got the nod in this one. Showed great heart to come back on the cards, with a nasty cut as well.

Mares is a warrior! Agbeko-Mares will be great :good

Vic proved he was the more skilled operator, and Mares proved he could take some SERIOUS punches.

Which one would you rather be?

But I do think Mares deserved to win too based on his volume and effort.
