Imo this doesn't get enough credit.

He goes to Russia to face a guy who is pumped to the gills with PED'S and totally manhandles him and drops him with basically every clean punch for unprecidented 119-104 schooling

He won by 15 rounds in a 12 round fight!!!

    Are you a moron?

Wlad cheated his way through that fight. He clinched something like 260 times, (literally) and even threw Povetkin to the canvas at one point. And Wlad's pet referee let this happen. Wlad was scared shitless of getting hit, so he just clinched, and often leaned his entire body weight onto Sasha's back.

It wasn't even a boxing match. There was no boxing involved. What fight did YOU watch?

Wlad should have had his boxing license revoked for that disgusting sham.

Literally the worst HW championship "fight" in the history of the sport. The only other one that comes close is Wlad vs Fury, a fight that Wlad clearly threw, to set up a rematch that then never happened.

On paper it was a good win, against a very good opponent. But fact is this was a huge fight that failed to live up to the hype just as the Haye fight did with Wlad.

Wlad beat Povetkin but he did it in the ugliest least pleasing way he could, in a fight that could of defined his career in a positive way, it once again just like with the Haye fight exhibited his worst traits. Fact is nobody decades from now will ever talk about the Povetkin and Haye wins, the 2 biggest fights of Wlad's career, in anything but negative terms. He refused to take even the smallest risk and KO Haye a fighter who was clearly inferior and he clinched his way to an ugly, foul filled fight vs Povetkin.

Wlad simply has no career defining win on his record, when on the big stage Wlad always stunk the place out unfortunately. Ali had the rumble in the jungle, Frazier the fight of the century, Louis had the schmeling fight, Foreman the Frazier and Moorer fights, Holmes the Cooney and Norton fights, Lewis had the Vitali, Tyson and Holyfield fights, Holyfied had Bowe and Tyson, Marciano had that Walcott KO etc. Most greats had career defining fights when on the big stage, Wlad has none.

Unfortunately ths is the truth. I think Wlad could have made a proper fight of it and still beaten Povetkin. Instead, as you say, he stunk the place out and while he wasn't the first to clutch his way to victory, and nor will he be the last - fact remains that he did so. Very **** fight and considering his talent and skills, one that Wlad could have fought and won differently. He just took zero risk. I hope to god AJ doesnt go for the same win method.

I admire your confidence! And I agree that if Povetkin destroys AJ, we need to doff our hats in respect.

perhaps his best win arguably, but badly marred by the excessive clinching allowed by the obviously excessively lenient ref. A kinda Leon Spinks type win.

we dont know if Pov was juiced for it.
