In hindsight, Pirog caught a lucky break.

He may of extended Golovkin a few rounds further, but i guarantee all he would of met a similar faith to Proksa.

Pirog far better than Proksa. Pirog would outbox GGG, imo.

I remember when Proksa first destroyed Sylvester. A ton of people were saying Proksa was the best MW at the time and he would've iced Pirog. 3G is a monster but lets not sleep on Pirog yet. He hits pretty hard himself and has decent boxing skills to go along with it.

Not sure about this. Pirog has a tendency of getting hit often as well. See his fight against Ishida for example. I think anyone who's going to beat Golovkin needs exceptional defensive skill.

This :good. Golovkin has such excellent timing and use of range is excellent and often gets overlooked because of his power. The 2 straight rights in succesion he caught Proksa with in the middle of the 3rd is an example. Very intellightnt fighter, knows how to time a punch. Pirog is much better than Proksa but ive no doubt Golovkin gets to him at some stage.

No Pirog is highly skilled, has fast feet to position himself in, so don't let his slower looking handspeed fool you his punches will land. I'm sick of hearing you gotta be fast, slick, or flashy to be great Jacobs had that style and showed alot of promise he was looking like another Dirrell, but look what Pirog did to him. Pirog shouldn't be overlooked he can still shock the world he's still good enough to be the best. Ishida hung in there he's a solid veteran Pirog outclassed him clearly. Guys like GGG and Pirog fight like throwbacks they give even the likes of Maravilla and Ward a run for their money and I wouldn't be shocked one bit if the east euros upset them. Itd be great for boxing and brings more competitiveness and interest to the divisions. I don't like having a dominant champ **** that there are classics to be made.

Dmitry Pirog has a very natural and effective body language while he lets both hands fly. Very strange for a russian to box like this, I watched him against Jacobs of course and against another Gennady, Gennady Martisonyan in Russia. The whole thing is to box and hold urself up against a puncher like Gennady Golovkin.

Pirog getting caught by Ishida was probably a sign of over-confidence, the tougher bout was with Maciel who really gave the Russian a very hard time.

Eh, I wouldn't put too much weight into this. Pirog is fairly slick. Pirog just had no respect for the punching power of Ishida.
