This is not accurate. Danny's style was nothing like Patterson's, and Danny never had chin issues. In fact his chin was quite good. He had serious balance and defense issues. That's why he got knocked down a lot. Prime Little Red was a freaking beast.
Danny could take a mansized beating...I really cant see how he had chin issues in the same way Patterson did. The issue was he let it get hit to much...not that he couldnt take em.
It was often quite amazing to watch Danny fight. He would get hit with freaking bomb after bomb, and then connect with a punch that looked like nothing, and the opponent would go down and stay there for 5 ****ing minutes:yep
His fight with Malvarez is a classic example of this. He was taking a pasting..then one little lapse from Juan and its lights out.
Bull****. Lopex was often susceptible to being caught cold early in fights before he'd built up his rhythm, otherwise he showed very good durability.
Have you seen Lopez/Ayala? Mike Ayala was Tony Ayala's older brother. It was suppose to be a routine title defense, but turned out to be the 1979 Ring Magazine fight of the year. If you haven't seen it, the whole thing is on you tube, and a highly recomend watching it!
