Who has Roy Jones ever beat? He beat a before his prime untested Bernard Hopkins and even then had a tough time He beat a weight drained James Toney lol :silly
not to put Jones down since I like Jones as well but Mayweather has more name fighters on his resume than Jones..
but the point im trying to make is I dont even believe what I put because I think Roys great .. im just trying to make the point on how situations can be switched around and excuses made.. was the point i was trying to make
Lets just take a look, shall we? Jorge Vaca - RJ only had 15 fights, Vaca was a former titlist who was sparked with a single left hook in one round. Jorge Fernando Castro - Over 75 fights to Jone' 17, been in with big names and was outclassed. Bernard Hopkins - While it wasn't the experienced Hopkins that beat Trinidad, he was in his physical prime. Thulani Malinga - Underrated fighter who would then go on to beat Benn for the WBC super middleweight title. Thomas Tate - Went 12 with The Hawk two years previous, outclassed in two. James Toney - One of the best P4P at the time, 44-0 with quality wins over Nunn, Johnson, McCallum...destroyed Barkley. Was clearly outclassed nearly every round and made to look like an amateur. Mike McCallum - I'll admit he was older and well-above his best weight. Still a big name, and beaten decisvely. Montell Griffin - Lost by DQ but redeemed himself with a brutal first round KO. Not many could have beaten Jones this night. No one ever KO'd Montell as bruallly as this, even in his later years. Virgil Hill - Underrated fighter that had a good run at Light Heavyweight. Only beaten by Tommy Hearns (over the distance) and Dariusz Michalczewski. One of the best body shot KO's ever. Mormeck or Arslan didn't do this to Hill. Eric Harding - Decent fighter, undefeated and coming off a win over Tarver, being the first to beat him. Julio Cesar Gonzales - Iron chinned undefeated fighter, knocked down three times and outclassed over the distance. Top 10 Light heavy weight at the time I believe Clinton Woods - Durable fighter, destroyed but would later become the IBF Light heavyweight champ John Ruiz - Made history here. Yeah we kno Ruiz isn't any great shakes, but did at the time have a title, and fought him in his first fight at the weight. Easy win. Ruiz would later lose a controversial decision to Caveman AKA Valuev. Antonio Tarver - Dropped 25 pounds of muscle and still beat a top Light Heavyweight. I missed a few, but I felt these were more important. What was your question again, son?:smoke
I see you know your boxing. This was unnecessary though as I was only trying to make a point in that Mayweather haters try to downplay his victories and achievements etc. with excuses such as the couple I made for Roy here even though I believe them to be bull****. I just wanted to keep with the "Mayweather haters theme" lol. But unnecessary as I know the quality and supreme talent that Roy is, but thanks for the input nonetheless
Names don't mean dick...its when you fought those names that matters. Jones beat two HOF'ers in their primes. Name one HOF fighter Floyd beat in his prime and don't say Hopkins wasn't good back than because he gave Jones a competitive match and didn't lose again until he fought Taylor some ten years later. Hatton and Corrales are the best two guys Floyd beat that were in their physical prime and they aren't near the caliber fighters that Toney and Hopkins are you dumb f__k. And if you wanna discredit Jone's win over Toney, than I can easily say "well Corrales was having legal problems from beating up his wife and he wasn't focused on the fight". But u Gayweather nuthuggers don't like it when someone does that to Floyd. ******ed thread.
