what has boxing done to make sure this NEVER happens again? And I'm not just talking about the big fights; I'm talking about the guys who are coming up and fighting in ballrooms and such.

Currently, fighters are inspected before the fight by opposing cornermen, officials from that particular state's athletic commission, and the media while wrapping their hands. Should the athletic commission make it mandatory that the fighters unwrap in the presence of the aforementioned people? Should they be required to have their gloves and wraps inspected after the fight as well? Or are they doing something similar now? Thoughts?

B4 and after is fine, cutting off the gloves and inspecting the wrapping seems quick and easy enough

    anything to prevent cheating

if wrap checking post fight occurred the whole Cotto first fight would be put to bed by now

Oh, o.k. Although it seems that it may only be for this fight. I believe boxing as a whole needs to do something similar. What Arum is proposing is a little overboard. It should be something simple yet clear when it comes to hand wrapping. It should be mandatory that the opposing corner-men, as well as the athletic commissions representative, be present before the wrapping begins. If they so desire, the opposing corner-men and official should be able to touch the wraps, pad, and gloves. They should also have an overhead camera recording the entire wrapping process. If these steps haven't been taken or something similar, then boxing as a whole isn't interested in making sure that no shenanigans are taking place before the fight.

Yes, for this fight, but what about Joe Schmo from Philly who is fighting at some club? This issue has to be taken seriously to prevent another Luis Resto or Antonio Margarito.

Wow, what a great idea from such a intelligent...get the f%$k out of hear! ****, who is going to pay for the suit cases? Before and after is fine. It should be checked for debuts all the way up to superfights. I think this issue is worse than a fighter using peds.

Can't see anything difficult about checked gloves and wraps after the fight. Just means an official would need to enter the ring immediately after the fight and remove the fighters gloves and wraps. They need to come off anyway.
