In my humble opinion Wladimir Klitschko retired too soon he still had plenty to give

I am happy he retired but couldn't help but think he still had more fights in him.

I would pick him over Wilder for example and Wilder is one of the top guys

He gave a prime AJ the fight of his life and nearly knocked out him the fight was set on to go 12 rounds but AJ found that uppercut that changed it.

    Thoughts?

Wilder wasn't willing to face him. The rematch with Fury didn't happen. So that leaves rematch Joshua (where he'd be an underdog) or rematch Povetkin (where he risks marring his legacy if he has a bad night). He could have also taken on some pushover opponents, which might have been fun to watch, but wouldn't have added anything to his legacy.

Physically for sure, he would have been top 3 and a danger to anyone in the division. But mentally he didn't have the desire any more so there's no sense getting punched in the head at 40 when you have achieved everything and have all the money.

Wlad still would have been a threat for any other Heavyweight if he had not retired, but Wlad retired with mental and physical health all intact, a substantial bank balance, a place in annals of boxing history and a boxing legacy, that sounds mighty fine to me.

Well, yeah, since he almost beat Joshua, Fury would not get back in the ring with him, and Wilder would not fight him with a sub-machine gun.

He should have retired after jennings fight as he looked shot.

No he retired at the right time
He failed to put Jennings away, laid an egg against Fury and wouldn't seize the moment against a green Joshua.

    Wlads been declining for awhile.

He stayed around way too long. He looked completely shot against both Pulev and Jennings, who are guys Wilder would've easily flattened and Wlad himself would've as well if he were a couple of years younger.

Wlad started slipping badly in 2013 when he couldn't stop Povetkin and by 2015 was shot and should've called it a day when he couldn't knockout Jennings.

That said he was able to collect two huge paydays against Fury and Joshua, but he should definitely stay out the ring at this point.

Wlad seems to still have his health and also doesn't seem to be hurting for money, so don't see the point of him returning.

My trainer's good friend Bobby Chacon, who died a few years ago didn't know when to call it quits and ended up sacrificing his health.

I think he retired at the perfect time but i also think had he not hed still be a big player in the division, he only just lost to Joshua, a Fury rematch would be interesting i think he would be more aggressive and make a big difference and im thoroughly convinced he would demolish Wilder and nobody else in the current top 10 are good enough to beat him right now. Hes certainly far past his best though theres no need for him to come back now.

He would have knocked out fury in a rematch. That fight was a fluke and Fury knew it.

In the prime of his life he didn't lay a glove on Sultan Igbramov and could not drop David Haye , never mind knock him out.

Jennings took Wlad the distance because he moved around the ring , not because Wlad was shot. Movement gives Wlad problems because he has to set his feet to punch.
The ref in the Jennings fight wouldn't allow WK use holding and leaning tactics either so that also factored into his lack-luster performance.

He was 41, and had ruled the HW division for a decade. He had nothing left to prove.

He retired at the perfect time. He could have come back, almost definitely have won a title and went on, but there was an air of gracefulness about when he went out. He put on a great show against Joshua and has made his money. He already secured himself as an ATG and as the best of his era, there wasn't much left to do in terms of legacy.

A very weak heavyweight division. His best win was David Haye.
