I didn't say he won it. I said the fight was a farce. Floyd did everything he could to drain Canelo and make him unhealthy. He wouldn't fight the dude at 154 like he fought Cotto at the year before. Canelo wasn't green, he was drained because that's the only way Floyd would fight this man.

Even while drained, Canelo fought Floyd tooth and nail and it was an even fight. Both guys were throwing one punch at at time and it was Floyd's closest fight in years. Canelo earned Floyd's respect and after the fight Floyd said "Canelo is the future of boxing". Canelo didn't look one dimensional in his bouts before fighting Floyd (vs Trout or vs Shane Mosley). Floyd knew he had the judges in his pocket vs a drained Canelo and eeked out a decision in a fight that was rigged for him to win.

Canelo was a bit drained, sure, but it was far from an even fight. I was rooting for Canelo but Floyd won it clearly.

Canelo never offered a catchweight. That was yet another myth "lost in translation" like "Mexicans don't **** around". Canelo was once asked (like back in 2011 I think) about the possibility of fighting Floyd, and that vague quote was used by TMT to act like Canelo offered to have a catchweight in negotiations.

Floyd proved himself to be a massive hypocrit. Just a year earlier in the buildup to Mayweather Cotto, Floyd criticized Pacquiao for draining Cotto and said because of that, he still considered Cotto an undefeated fighter because he was unhealthily drained when he lost to Pacquiao.

Floyd also made a big deal about how he is fighting Cotto at 154 lbs the natural limit because he don't do catchweights, so there are no excuses. Then a year later he demands Canelo agree to a 152 lb catchweight. He wouldn't fight the dude at 154 lbs.

http://www.*******.com/saul-alvarez-ill-drop-150-floyd-mayweather-jr--46563 That seems to contradict what you think, seems to quote Canelo saying he would be comfortable coming in even lower than 152. I'm just reading the exact quote. So either Canelo was misquoted or your wrong. I'm going to go with you being wrong.

Yup. I know what the history books says and then i go back and remember what actually happened. But Naww no debate necessary my G. Now I understand it why you say its an awkward era, its true these fighters are not fighting for legacy , they fighting for the easiest paycheck available. Its pretty sad and thats another reason why this sport will continue to suffer and continue to push the fans away .

It's only simple to people who were not blessed with a fully functional brain like you. Who writes the rules of the lineal title? Ring magazine, boxing writers, fans? I'll tell you has written the rules....no one. The lineal title is a concept conceived by followers of boxing to determine the true champion in each division after boxing became fragmented with numerous different commissions and champions. The lineal title is not a commision and has no rules. The concept of the man who beat the man is supposed to name the true champion but is flawed in many ways. Martinez was the lineal champ and clearly the best mw but was a shell of himself after a long layoff with injury and got koed by Cotto at 155. Then Alvarez beats Cotto at 155 to become "'lineal champ'' then vacates the title and the division and who knows if he will ever even fight at mw again? How many fights does he have to have outside mw before the lineal titled is pulled? While all this was happening GGG came along a different track a emerged as clearly the best mw. You have written your own rules so I'll do the same and my rules go like this. Because Alvarez's title stemmed from a depleted champ at a phony weight then relinquished his title and is about to fight his 2nd fight outside of mw and won't fight the true champ I henceforth withdraw the lineal title from Alvarez and award it to Golovkin.

In this era I feel it is better to forget champions and instead rate the best fighters in a division. I'm not sure if that is one of the reasons The Ring originally dropped their championships in the 90s but with some of the nonsense that has gone on over the last couple of decades it is understandable.
