In pure boxing terms what's the most competitive fight for de la Hoya right now?

He should fight Margarito. Who wouldn't take that pay per view?

You can stay at the B-level fighters as good competition for DLH and while you are at it, throw in any fighter between Featherweight and lightweight..

Cotto, Margarito, or Williams would be the most competitive fight for Hoya. The best money making fight for Hoya right now would be JCC Jr. The 24/7 storyline would be great for boxing.

I'd say Cotto is perfect for De La Hoya. It's actually perfect for both of them. If De La Hoya has anything left of the fighter he used to be he has a more than decent shot at beating Cotto. The DLH of eight or ten years ago would have killed Cotto. On the other hand if Cotto can beat De La Hoya, it will give him renewed confidence moving forward to hopefully set himself up for a rematch with Margo, who will once again beat the hell out of him. But at least he gets another big payday before he is once again exposed and his career is basically over.

Id would want to see that fight just to see him destroy Jr. I love JC Chavez, but we nice to see Oscar shut his mouth by koing his son.

The way he looks now, facing any one of the top welterweights (Margarito, Williams, Cotto, Clottey) would be a very competitive fight, and I would probably have his opponent the favourite.
But some jr middleweights would also make a great fight, like Mosley, Forrest, Santos, even Dzinziruk.

Cotto and I still believe that's who he needs to be fighting next. I'd be interested to see who the odds makers would favor.

Rafael Marquez. He should be small enough not to hurt Oscar.

Most competitive? Hoya vs Clottey at 154, IMO. Or maybe Hoya vs. Joel Julio.

Very true. Hey, Chavez JR. can definitely take a shot, and can bang too. It would be fun while it lasted, though I see Oscar doing to Chavez exactly what he did to his Dad when he was past his prime. Either stopping him on cuts, or forcing him to stop by dishing out a sustained beating. No way JR. wins this one yet, not with his (lack of) skill.

Though I am a fan of the kid.
