I don’t think his hype train is running at all. Most “fans” have abandoned ship. I do remember when many were calling him the air apparent to Mayweather though lol. Seems like a lifetime ago. He’s not very good. He is what he is, somewhat fast, somewhat strong, with a good left hook. He’s easy to hit, he can be outboxed. Etc etc. I don’t think he will headline anymore cards. Charlo and Davis should both be ahead of him next time out.
Broner hype train died with the Porter beating. The Mikey Garcia loss put the nail in the coffin. Him getting a hard fought draw vs Vargas is his level. Too many new and exciting fighters around, Broner is just Broner. He’s a draw but will never headline a PPV
Even Gavin Rees put it on him intill Broner overwhelmed him with his size. Broner is a fraud. His footwork is garbage. He shakes his head everytime he gets hit clean. Lead right hand followed by a left hook all night long. So predictable. If you can put a big boy jab on him he is totally done for. All the top dogs at 140 & 147 DESTROY him. Khan would do a Garcia job on him but even more ruthless. If he can catch Broner cold he'll drop him.
because his fights are great to watch and it just goes to show that protecting your 0 all the time is overrated just fight good fighters and give it your all and the fans will tune in. Cotto was the same way not an atg but still pulling in 8 figures because every fight was worth every penny. I don't see anyone claiming Broner is a top p4p talent so I'm not sure what hype train you're referring to.
Heres the reality of it. Broner will ALWAYS be a draw because hes very controversial not because of his boxing ability. People will watch Broner for the exact same reason they watched Floyd. They wanna see this idiot get knocked out COLD. Unlike Floyd, Broner cant back up what he says and the brutal knockout is coming and coming very soon. Hes in a similar position to Amir Khan i think. He will beat the above average guys but just like Khan has defence and chin as his weakness whenever he fights a Top opponent, Broner will have workrate and heart being his downfall in the big fights. Hell Adrien Broner vs Amir Khan is still a fight i wanna see.
I like Broner because he gives us enjoyable and memorable fights. For example watching Maidans beat him up him for 12 rounds was one of my favourite moments as a boxing fan - it was joyous to watch.
Broner has lost to: Quintero PDL Maidana (destruction) Porter M Garcia (destruction) Vargas The two best he faced destroyed him. If Khan fights him it will be another demolition job.
