I think prime Mikkel Kessler would end a Paul Williams-like 168lbs'ers career in astonishingly quick fashion.
Paul Williams uses his knuckles to punch like a man. That makes his style much different than the Calzaghe "Chick fighting her roomate" style.
I watched the fight and in all honesty it was a rough scrappy fight with joe fighting sloppy and Hopkins fighting dirty. **** happens But again we can do this all day :hey
Do you support Calzaghe because you're Welsh? It can't be because you find his style aesthetically pleasing, let's be honest.
It was Calzaghe's fault for running in like a crazed ape. Quick Joe, throw your arms around in front of you. This guy has too much technical ability for you to stand off -- you need to work, work, work!
Is he trying to claw Hopkins or something? It makes me cringe every time I see him try to throw a combo.
****ing lol at the slaps, who does he think he is, wolverine? The headbutt too If you were to have one gif summing up the worst thing about both fighters...
The thing none of you seem to even notice in that entire exchange makes me laugh. Joe isn't attempting to hit Hopkins with the majority of those punches until he sees Hopkins go on the backfoot - then he loads up the left hook and throws it - Hopkins is savvy enough to defend it and drop his head right onto the jaw of Calzaghe. Might look ****ing ugly but most guys get caught by the power shot Calzaghe throws following those flurry feints.
what? He slaps on BOTH hands and TWICE on the right. So he feints THREE punches so he can miss with ONE true power punch? Really dude? Are you really stretching that hard to make an excuse? Don't pull a muscle.
Look at the ****ing footage properly. Hopkins is backing away at the start, Joe starts throwing arm flurries in his general direction, the moment he gets within range you see him load up the left and throw it - Hopkins sees it, drops down into a defensive position and pushes forward with his head to stop the follow up right hand from being effective. All you're seeing there is how much of a master at defense Hopkins is - he gets himself into a range he knows he can't be hit, he waits for the flurry to finish, sees Calzaghe load up and then takes defensive measures to ensure he can't be hurt. The headbutt is just a little bit of extra spice added to it. Now we know how good Hopkins is defensively, one of the best all time and he proves it every time he steps in the ring, go have a look at the entire fight, or any other fight - you'll see Calzaghe do exactly the same weird looking windmill **** until he's within range and then he throws a power shot. It's not a traditional feint, but it is simply a feint. I don't understand how you don't see this. I'm guessing you also haven't been in the ring because I tell you, you will throw three feints to land a good shot in a fight. I feint my jab all the ****ing time so I can throw a sharp right to the stomach - I don't look like an amateur doing it like Calzaghe does but I also don't have his handspeed nor footwork to make it count when an opponent buys the feint.
Oh please. His first two punches (left and right) where a pawing kind - like a cat asking for a treat. I will give you the big left , which he misses! Look at the left before the big left! WHAT THE **** WAS THAT ABOUT.!!!1 But look at the follow up big right- PALM FACING BHOP.!!!! And the left that followed that Yeha a feint.... right. Dude is paws like a house cat. Not a traditional feint? Is that a euphemism for an awkward slap attack?
It is pretty easy, my friend. Joe slaps away until he catch the falla :smoke By the way, do you see how Hopkins try to set up Joe for a counter, but fails. Hopkins superior skill is not enough to deal with Joes superior slap-fu :hey
