    Oh my god that card was night and day.....what a horrible fight to come on after the Miranda/Pavlik war

    i didnt mean to imply that it didnt appear to be a brutal beating at the time, just that we didnt realize the almost super-humanness of the punishment he withstood.

    honestly, he probably got hit 3 times as much as Jermain Taylor in the first fight.

    also, i thought Steve Smoger let that go on way, way too long.

    In a later interview Miranda admitted that he had been lucky that Pavlik hadn't more seriously injured him and potentially ended his career. Even Miranda in retrospect felt the fight should have been stopped sooner!

    I'm still amazed that round 7 ever happened. Steve Smoger, Miranda's corner, the ring doctor, etc. How is it that none of them stopped that fight?

    do you allow for the possibililty that Miranda makes 166 fine but still loses. Or if Miranda loses, is it automatically due to his weight?

    I think it is a mistatement to say Miranda lost because he was weight drained.
    He lost because Pavlik beat him down and Miranda would have beat most of 160 on that night.

    Miranda never said the fight should have been stopped sooner. I wouldnt have disagreed with it, but Miranda never said that.

    I talked with Smoger the day after the fight and he said he let the fight continue under a very close eye. He said he knows a Miranda punch could change the fight and was going to give him a shot to come out in the 7th and make a difference. If it didnt happen and Pavlik continued to hurt him, he was to stop the fight right away, which he did.

    He was no doubt weight drained beyond belief that night, he even had a fevor. But I do agree that Pavlik still might have beat him at 100%. Kelly had a great game plan and has moved on to great things. It would have been a hella fight though...

    And I will say right now that Miranda will NOT be weight drained for this fight. If he loses, he loses with no excuses.

    I hear Taylor's camp is talking to Lacy. Sounds fairly interesting, but I don't like when friends fight, there doesn't seem to be the spark, just like when Taylor fought Spinks, they were buddies too.

    It was Lacy, then Froch.
    But you are correct. I heard yesterday it looks like it will be Lacy in Oct.
