In retrospect, wa Amir Khan an excellent amateur who didn't become an excellent professional

His standout attributes were his exceptionally fast hands and feet - and with the headguards, bigger gloves, 3 round limit and emphasis on scoring points - meant that Khan was an excellent amateur who did not make the transition to excellent professional. Yes he won world titles, but so did Mark Breland who was an exceptional amateur.

Khan was never able to adjust when a fight was going against him, had the same style that Angel Garcia called '1-2, roll out, 1-2, roll out', had stamina issues due to being a front-runner - which is not an issue in the amateur due to the 3 round limit, and then of course there is his chin which in the amateurs he could get away with due to the bigger gloves, headguards and the emphasis to score points not go for knockouts.

you are delusional with low standards. Probably cause hes the same background as you.

he hasn't won a world title fight in 11 years, has been knocked out in all divisions hes fought in, been knocked down about 15 times. lost 6 times 5 times by KO. never was p4p, never a 2 weight world champ, never undisputed, never had a long reign, lost to mediocre fightersand was doing chicken dancing every other fight. and so on.... Absolutely NOTHING '' excellent'' about his pro career AT ALL. get real ffs :lol:

lets stick him in the hall of fame shall we :pancarta::pancarta::pancarta:

    So ****ing delusional!!

I'd class Usyk and Canelo as having a 'great pro career'

Khan is down there with the likes of Chisora, Victor Ortiz and Devon Alexander as a guy with multiple losses who is known for mostly being a loser.

I don't see how boxing fans don't consider becoming a world champion proof of an "excellent career". Compared to: Average gym goers, average amateurs, average professionals, and average world class fighters, they're above average compared to all of them by far.

Khan had plenty of wins over ranked opponents. As long as we are not comparing him to guys like Joe Louis or Oscar de la Hoya, of course he had a great professional career.

Did it meet the hype? I would say no but that is a different question and topic entirely.

Khan was in many fights with top tier fighters. He provided great entertainment and drew a lot of news to it.

Khan was a world champion, earned a fortune and at age 35 can leave the sport with brain cells intact and never need to work ever again, sounds mighty excellent to me.

Will anyone call Khan a ATG, no, however the ATG club of our sport is a prestigious and select one and often open to debate.

Winning a legit world title is in my opinion excellence in our sport, it is after all reaching the pinnacle, are there world champions with better records etc, hell yeah of course.

Chin and obnoxious personality aside, Khan was a very solid pro.

Prime Khan was a handful for anyone who couldn't crack his chin.

He was totally Beyond shot yesterday. I'm not sure why he was so slow and why was being hurt by the jab

A lot wouldn't come back from the embarrassing Prescott obliteration.

The Maidana win aged like a top shelf Argentinean Malbec. You could say maybe the Malignaggi destruction aswell. Though that might be more like a 2017 Merlot from the Fingers Lake region.

W’s over Maidana, Malignaggi, Judah, Alexander, Algieri and Kotelnik is a pretty solid resume as well as his robbery loss to Peterson which he clearly won.

His style was better suited to the amateurs for sure, but doesn’t take away from the fact that he still had a very good professional career.
