In retrospect, wa Amir Khan an excellent amateur who didn't become an excellent professional

    Got to completely disagree here.

While Mayweather doesn't have single punch KO power, he does hurt opponents with single shots enough to keep them thinking twice before swarming in. Khan would be an easier fight for Mayweather than Berto and Ortiz were. Khan is far too predictable and has no B plan when he starts to munch on the same counter over and over. This fight wouldn't even qualify as a tune-up for Mayweather in terms of abilities.

Just observe Khan's performances. He's always using the same one-two over and over, and he looks impressive when he lands them because he's simply too fast for opponents to counter. Mayweather will easily time and counter Khan. This fight will end by TKO for Mayweather in a fight that might look interesting for the first 2 rounds, but will quickly go in Mayweather's favor all the way from round 3 onwards.

Khan doesn't have the ring IQ to compete against Floyd.

Floyd plays chess, while Khan struggles at tic-tac-toe.

So, in your esteemed opinion, you have to be P4P to be considered an excellent professional?

Khan got timed by Danny "One Trick Pony" Garcia, who isn't 1/10th the counter-puncher Floyd is.

Still, if it was that easy Floyd would have fought him.
As the ultimate avoider of any risk he saw something he didnt like in Khan.

Thanks for clarifying that part because I thought he was becoming delusional in the last half of his career. Milking it to a point it became annoying.

I was also a fan at the start because you rarely see boxers from his community at the world stage but by geez the delusional bragging. Never ending excuses for his loss and this sense he still one of the best in the world when he was not, got too much. It was getting sad.

As for his style. It's amateur boxing hour. Really doesn't have spiteful punches. It's odd style i have ever seen in pro boxing. Sometimes you laugh because it's so amateurish. Shoe shining his opponent to death and getting bambied all over the place when hit hard. Lack of power in the hurt business and no chin is a recipe for disaster.

He beats some good opponents. Not great but OK. So overall i would say he didn't do too bad.

I wouldn't say Garcia is a one trick pony. Garcia is highly adaptable and has proven his self against the best in the sport. The man always fights tough competition, is overlooked, and generally comes out on top. It's just sad to see that Garcia never got his respect when he was active, and that remains even during his inactivity.

Regarding the fight with Khan. If you noticed during interviews and press conferences, his father pretty much said that this is the exact counter they were preparing to catch Khan's predictable one-two with. It was also extremely apparent that he is timing him for it from the opening bell. As soon as Khan start to slightly slow down he was immediately caught.

Oh definitely, I'm sure he paid Lo Greco to take over for him.

As much as I mocked him during all these years I have to admit that he always brought a good show to the ring. Boxing is a show too, and entertainment. You dont get bored in a khan's fight, that's a very good thing to say about a fighter imho.

Khan couldn't beat Algieri impressively, even with his supposed "improvements" under Hunter. Why does anyone think he would have a chance against Floyd?

Khan was arguably number 1, worst case number 2 lww at one stage. That's a pretty impressive achievement.
