In terms of Historical Significance, What is the Biggest Lost of De La Hoya?

Since DLH fought simply stunning competition, losses don't have huge historical significance IMO. I think most historians would agree that the Trinidad performance counts as good as a win, same for the 2nd Mosley fight. He lost to Hopkins at an insanely high weight class, a very close fight vs. Floyd over the hill, and lost a bad one vs. PacMan totally drained and shot, so the only fight he lost undoubtedly in his prime, is the first Mosley fight, vs. a guy who just moved up from LW to WW. So that might have the most significance, although boxing historians are fair, and wins count MUCH better than losses. That's why we have Robinson at #1 ATG.

I feel Mosley gets a little too much credit for moving to welter to beat Hoya.

After all, he was pretty much dead at 135, and had a couple of tune-ups..... hardly out of the frying pan and into the fire.

he deserves it...he was never outclassed in TWO fights...if he gets KO in their 2nd fight, then mosley would have a 50-50 chance to be in the HOF

This one is right up my alley, and I WILL bring up this topic ON THE GRIND live on Sunday night, so all my little ***** Hatas, stop what you are doing (Nothing) on Sunday night and listen to the Law.

The Trinidad loss. That one is EASY. Oscar de la Hoya was the Media Darling, with the "matinee idol looks" the WBC Welterweight Titleholder, and undefeated going into the Trinidad Superfight, which was the last Huge Megafight of the Entire 20th Century. He had just finished defeating an old ass Chavez 2 times, and cheating Pernel out of his title. He was "it" in boxing.

But on one night on HBO, (Home of Beloved Oscar) against something called Hugo Pineda, that old theme from the 1982 hit "Flash Gordon" sung by Queen started playing, as we had a Hero from the Isle of Puerto Rico, who would save everyone of us, and stood for everyone of us. He saved every man out there, every man every woman every child, everybody FLASH TITO!!!

In defeating Oscar de la Hoya, Trinidad took the Legitimate, Linear Welterweight Title, the WBC/IBF belts, and most of Oscar's dignity. :good:good:good

and you oscarsexual bitches can quote me on all of that. :smoke

It has to be when DLH got up on his bicycle and road around the ring for the latter part of the Trinidad fight. He ran so much that he deserved to lose, even though he clearly could have won the fight.

i'd say the first fight with mosely, there were both in there primes and the verdict wasnt dodgy,
    however
shane moving up 2 weight classes to fight oscar is irrelevant duran did the same and fought his first fight against an elite shane already had a fights worth of experience against rivera before fighting oscar, and the fight was oscar was closer then ppl think, shane didnt dominate him.

Agreed. DLH threw away his excuse for robbery with the way he fought those last rounds. He will forever regret this.

The Sugar Shane fights were close and competitive so they shouldn't burn as much as losing against Pac or Trinidad. Being 35 and coming in weak and drained against Pac doesn't mean that he could have put up much of a fight.

Trinidad. I believe he deserved the nod, but he still ****ed it up. This was a legacy defining fight, he lost his "0", and went on to lose just about every other major fight he has... The fact that his biggest scalp is El Feroz says something, and it didn't have to be that way at all...

How can Tito be leading this poll? Oscar beat Tito. He just got robbed. All things considered, I don't even consider it a loss for Oscar. Cause he gave Tito a boxing lesson for the most of the night that night.

The biggest loss means his least competitive fight. Which is in fact Pacquiao. All the other fights, Oscar had his moments. It's also the biggest loss on the grounds that he was in a weight class 3 divisions higher than Pac, he was the overwhelming favorite, and he thoroughly got his ass kicked. Definitely his BIGGEST LOSS

The 2nd Mosely loss. If he won that fight, he would have avenged his 1st real loss and would have been viewed as more accomplished fighter. Before that fight, he was looking good beating Vargas, etc.

The Trinindad loss, although he officially lost, was generally perceived as a robbery - at least by those who knows how to score fights.

the 2nd loss to mosley denied him of being atop 50 ATG. he should have redeemed himself convincingly like other greats did

PACQUIAO?????? I can't believe so many people vote for him!!! Did you guys started watching boxing yesterday????? What was important about that fight??? A wwaayyyyy past his prime De la Hoya. Fighting to get a big paycheck in a fight that he doesn't really care about. Coming down to a weight that got him so weak he couldn't even move. That fight was just a show.
