In the future, I suspect we will many fighters try to implement TBE's style in the ring.

What these idiots including MVC don't realize that the philly shell wasn't Mayweather's most effective form of defense. The most important part of his defense was his legs. To simply move away from his opponents power or control distance. Second was if he was buzzed he would immediately grab and hold (an illegal tactic), but he would hold before going into philly shell. And lastly, it was the philly shell.

The philly shell was the flashiest part of his in ring boxing. But it wasn't near his biggest reason for ring success.

    rofl wise guy.

I see people trying to emulate but when TBE did a shoulder roll you knew you were watching a master. and that pull counter forget about it nobody even tries that. but the younguns have something to shoot for.

Yet when the going got tough Floyd's go to defensive move wasn't even the shoulder roll. He'd hug before using the philly shell.

when pinned on the ropes yes, but not many could pin him like that maidana did. but most cannot because of his lateral movement, either way the objective was to nully an attack and start his own attack. you had the priviledge of watching a master do it.

My point was the philly shell is not the source of Mayweather's defensive success. It was his legs, control of distance and clinching.

Maidana cut the ring off from Floyd. He took away Mayweather's most important thing for ring success which is his legs. Which is why Mayweather went life and death with a B level fighter.

Ok point made. But what I am saying TBE could present serveral defensive and offensive fronts. He mastered them all.

Yes he could. I'm just pointing out to the OP that the Philly Shell is not the biggest source of Mayweather's in ring success. He thinks people should just start using the Philly Shell to start being like Mayweather. When the Philly Shell is damn near irrelevant compared to his legs and clinching tactics.

Mayweather's biggest source of in ring success is his legs and it's not even close. Philly Shell doesn't even register on the radar in comparison to his legs. The Philly Shell is actually not very useful against a fighter who can cut the ring off and provide pressure.

You really think Chavez, Duran, Pryor and Hearns don't shoot overhand rights over than right shoulder until his damn arm falls off? Come on man.
