i was talking to my father about how floyd not fighting pac could hurt legacy...he told me who gives a ****, floyd satisfied in his own mind and hes getting paid, and hes right. when i think about it, all of the legendary fighters are forgotten when they retire, and "belts collect dust" and ppl focus on the new active fighters anyway, so why not try to get as much $$$$ as u can and look out for yourself instead of putting ur career in jeopardy for ppl that want to see u fail anyway.

i can see it from mayweather prospective...and honestly it make sense....hes taking advantage of a system thats suppose to take advantage of him...he flipped the game

hes supposed to fighter the "best" go out on his shield, end up broke, senile and be a "legend"
im probably will catch backlash but whatever, this is a forum and the topic is up for debate

Boxing is just a business, something people seem to forget. When your dead and people still talk about you, what ****ing difference does it make? The only difference it makes is their kids won't have to flip burgers for a living......for a while anyway!

Ali is the only guy I would consider as a true great with real legacy, not just as a boxer but as a person.

i don't think most boxers come into the game just wanting to make money(at first). their main goal is wanting to be become the best.

maybe as you get older u stop caring a little less about legacy.

It's up to him, if he's happy. But if he never fights Manny, we'll see how satisfied he is down the road when fans and commentators and reporters don't let him live it down. He doesn't seem like the type who would take that kind of thing in stride.

Legacy is much more important than money, its what you leave behind, what your name lives up to for your future generations, money can run out. I dont get why some people are bent on associating legacy with being a broke and tarnished fighter. If money was the sole factor determining a fighter's drive to be the best, they'd probably run out of motivation as soon as they cash they're first decent purse. Legacy matters and i dont care what anybody says....Floyd cares about not being the one to end the Pac myth.

It matters to some, not to others. That's all. Every fighter wants to be respected and thought of as great, in the end.

I dont think that Manny fight will hurt Floyd that much and I dont think Floyd cares. Like he says one fight doesnt define him

Floyd's legacy is fine. Will he be a first ballot hall of famer? Of course. Legacy is important to some and not to others.

in the GRAND scheme of things? Legacy doesn't mean anything so your pops is right.

We live on a lone planet among billions of others. If life were to exist after the end of earth some billion years from now, will anyone living ever care that there was a man who did not end up having a 12 round bout with another man, two out of hundreds of trillions who will have ever lived, out of all the species?

What is legacy? A recording in a history book that will be shelved into the annals of time? Will it matter when that person's history is little more than a few kilobytes of text a few centuries from now? (if they are even recording in the same mediums as today)

It begs to be hated on. What kind of dumb ass question is this? Does legacy really matter :patsch

I don't know ask yourself if your a fan of boxing. What matters more to you - who a boxer fights or how much money he puts in the bank? That's great that Floyd can make a **** ton of money and cherry pick his opponents, but isn't that kind of a sad statement in a competitive sport? Boxing has to be the only sport in the world where the top athletes don't have to compete with eachother and they still do well.

Legacy is everything because it gives you a glance of immortality.
