In this era Marciano would be a heavyweight champion

He would be the LHW champion in his prime, maybe even coming up from SMW.

Might be he would try to pull a RJJ and fight for a HW belt, but question is if he would pull it off with such a huge weight-/height-/reach-disadvantage.

Marciano could possibly fight at 175, but would be more suited for cruiserweight. He could punch extremely hard, just ask Joe Louis..............Marciano, Louis, they would not be able to beat a Klitschko, they are simply way too small, but they were great champions in their time. Klitschkos are huge, but with amazing skills, nobody existed like that back then, nobody. Vlad's balance is awesome, power, defense, etc., and Vitali has a sense of distance that is unusual, and that is an understatement. Vitali will knock Stiverne out at age 42. Stiverne is mandatory and Vitali will fight him. Vlad knocked Thompson out two times, yet Wilder refuses to fight Thompson, gee............wonder why. Vlad toyed with Wilder in sparring for the Wach fight. Vlad was very nice to Wilder, gave him lots of respect, never rude. Vitali or Vlad will fight Wilder ASAP, but it would be good for Wilder to fight someone in the top ten, become mandatory.

WTF? That's on FIGHT NIGHT, not the WEIGH IN. Marciano would NEVER, EVER, drop 20 pounds if he was in this era. He'd be 200ish, easy.

Anyone who says Marciano would show up, weighed in at 168 in the present day is a total ****ing moron.

I can't deal with people who post this nonsense. The dude was a heavyweight and trained like an animal. He would not have cut down to 168 or 175. He would put on size.

I have to stop replying to trash posts like this.

I do not think he would.

You may find a weaker HW champ but the question is will he land a fight with that guy?

Against the Klits, the Rock will be at the end of the jab all night until the ref will show enough compassion to the bloodied Rock by stopping the fight circa 6th.

End of the jab? Marciano never let a fighter take control of the fight. Charles,Walcott,Louis,Moore were better fighters, hell of a lot smarter then Wladimir and still could not control the Rock. Rocky keeps coming and coming eventually breaking Wlad down like he did every other fighter he fought and KO's Wladimir Klitschko. Imagine Wladimir hitting a small moving target that is actually able to bend over/his knees, it'll be something new to him.

Marciano comes in,bends,Wlad falls on him to clinch,Rock comes up with a upper cut on the chin thats a product of China.

Well, he was closer to LHW than he was to Cruiser or Heavy, so it makes sense for him to try to compete there. He'd be a pretty small Cruiserweight, and I doubt any sanctioning org would even allow him to compete at heavy nowadays.

Why would he put on size when in his own words he felt at his best around the 180s?

I am saying, HYPOTHETICALLY, if he was around today and with all the advancements in nutrition and fitness, he'd easily put on weight.

All these "he'd drop 20 pounds" posts are ridiculous.

As much as I like Marciano and would have loved to see him at HW in this era, I would agree that CW would be best. His highest weight if I am correct was 192. I think he'd put on weight in this era. He'd be 200-210, where cruisers are today.

He would never go to 168. Ever. The fact people say that makes me laugh. I don't think he'd go to 175 either. He was a HW champ. He would NOT go backwards that far like people seem to think. He'd go to CW at the worst and I would not be stunned if he got in the ring with these much larger guys, cause Marciano had balls and heart.

Yeah I agree. He may not have had a ripped look about him, but he was very finely trained at 185 or so.
For Marciano to drop 10 pounds would require him to sacrifice a good deal of muscle mass, leaving him very weakened and probably dehydrated.

185 or so was his ideal weight.

He wanted to be under the weight of his competition. He trained harder than any other boxer in history and eat just one meal a day to stay at 185. Anything less than that was impossible. Some real morons came out in this thread.

    THANK YOU!

And I agree Dino. Anyone who knows boxing would not say Marciano would be at 168 or 175 today. Only a **** would. The dude trained down to his weight, not up. That's why he was never 200 in his hay day.

Marciano got in the ring in the 180s.

Modern day SMWs get in the ring in the 180s.

Marciano is essntially a modern SMW.

If Ward didnt cut weight, he'd weigh around 180 aswell

Unless he ran across cruiser Evander Holyfield.
