Marciano got knocked down and cut against ancient guys like moore and joe louis. if those shot to **** fighters held their own with him for a few, a guy like holyfield would have wrecked him .....

He'd train like them lift weights, get to 215 or so, and be champ.

Marciano would be fighting Light Heavyweight likely. He'd be nowhere remotely close to the heavyweight division.

    SMH.

To fight at SMW, you have to be 168 ON THE SCALES before the fight.

Marciano trained down to his weight. He never put on weight to be in the 180's. WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO COMPREHEND? ARE YOU ****ING 2 YEARS OLD?

Yeah, Moore was really shot to **** when he won like 40 plus fights after the Marciano loss and regained the LHW title.

Also, Joe Louis didn't knock him down.

****ing bandwagon hater. Learn something before you speak.

At the lowest, lowest form. I still say CW. I think he'd hit 200 in this day and age with modern techniques.

Smw fighters are 180+ lb fighters who dehydrate themselves to weigh in at 168 then rehydrate back up to 180+lbs.

If Marcaino was fighting today he most likely would be a lhw. In other words finish camp at 185 lbs dehydrate down to 175 lbs then rehydrate back up to 185 lbs come fight night.

Marciano never felt the need to dehydrate down to 75 in his day and he would have no need to go lower in this age.

Roy Jones came in under 200lbs and won a title, he and toney moved up from 160 FFS and had good success against todays comp.

Marciano would probably do even better !

Marciano fought during the time of the same day weigh ins. It would of been madness to dehydrate down back then, but its the norm now the weighs ins take place 24 hrs before the fight.
Jones had one fight. It would of been interesting to see how things played out if he had actually had a number of fights at hw.

Toney on the flip side was at best, a contender. He could of been more if he had some discipline

Toney had more success than Jones in reality.
Even tho he didnt get some decisions he should have , he proved a lot more.

It is madness to even dehydrate like the boxers do today - it is not a good thing , 24 hours does little to help you out if you lost weight incorrectly.

Plus all these unofficial weigh ins are just that- yet they are used as some kind of bench mark around here.

Half these boxers are stepping on scales full clothed for starters.

A 200lb man can KO anybody, and the rock would have benefits today that can only help him. He was a unique heavyweight and an ATG.

To dismiss him as a super middle weight is disgraceful.

    Slap yourself

Also please just clear somethign up for me.

When did Marciano or heavyweights of that time- actually weight in ?

Today they can weigh in days in advance as the weigh in for a HW is just a novelty.

What was it like back then ?

    True
True, but it's the norm these days.
Not sure what the percentage is. I've only seen a few unofficial weigh ins
    I disagree
I never dismissed him. I merely pointed out that a 185 lb guy today fights as a lhw
    :huh
