At one point they weighed in just before stepping into the ring.
It was later pushed forward a couple of hours. Leonard and Hearns weighed in for their rematch at around 9:00am the day of the fight.
There was a Spinks fight, during the late 80's, which got cancelled because Spinks's opponent was over the limit, so after that the weigh ins got pushed forward 24 hrs.

It was then that fighters started dehydrating themselves down 10-14 lbs to fight 2 divisions below their actual fighting weight. Is it safe? Not really. Training while starving and dehydrating yourself can't really be safe and is bound to have some long terms effects.

    Hold up Zod-

Im talking heavyweights here. The heavyweight weigh in is a novelty.

You can weight in a week in advance if you want to.

There is no need for a HW weigh in- as there is no weight to make.

So what I am asking is - in Marcianos time- when did HWS weigh in >?

To the best of my knowledge about 1-2 hrs before the fight itself.

Yeah, a guy with a 67 inch reach and 180 pounds would really have a great shot against Wlad...

Marciano would be blown out of the ring in 4 rounds by Wlad without landing a SINGLE punch. Embarrassing mismatch.

Thats your opinion, Muhammad ALi believed he would be an extremley tough opponent to fight , and he had size skills and everything else over him too

    Angelo Dundee:

"these klitschko are unique being brother and they are the best today, but big guys usually are not so good , they need more oxogen to get to the muscles and in general do not make good fighter, I expect pocket size heavyweights to rule when they are gone "
