In today's TV era, has there ever been a boxing fight that was faked?

Wlad vs Austin was talked to be a dive altough I don't think so

 

the mike tyson vs clifford etienne has to be the worst ever.

Etienne gets knocked down, takes his own mouthpiece out whilst on the canvas, and lays there like he is dead, then tyson helps him up and he is suddenly fine. It was pathetic.

Yeah that fight pissed a lot of people off, people in the crowd were throwing trash at Etienne and some insulting him too, you can see him arguing with one as he's heading out.

I heard some people got their PPV money back, not sure if that's completely true.

thats the biggest one i personally can remember. but the tyson ettiene was pretty bad as well.

its pretty insulting that they do this to the fans. this isnt pro wrestling or K1.

(K1 from what the rumors are is run by the yakuza and the fights are often fixed)

but to the examples like etienne. i think taking a hard punch and then not getting up is different to dropping form the first punch that touches you. you can tell he doesnt take a punch well and seems too smile it off but is clearly hurt.

guys do funny things when they are smacked with a good shot...the'll do stuff that wouldnt seem right I.E. take out mouthpiece,walk around the ring, punch while on the floor, try to defend themselves...like thompson did in that clip he was tryign to block a left hook but was also unconcious of his moves.

another new example was how mayorga when he got up from the first knockdown from mosley gets up puts his hands up but is facing the wrong way...he knows he has to do somthing but doesnt know what.

 

I don't think that this was a pre determined fake in that Thompson was told to throw the fight. I just think Thompson was looking for a way out and when he got a half decent shot on the chin he went and stayed down.

A couple of rounds earlier he looked like he was looking for a way out when he tumbled over and appeared to be feigning injury. There was another incident were it looked like Thompson was looking for a way out but i can't remember it of the top of my head.

I don't think there was any corruption in this "dive". I believe it's more a case of someone wanting an early shower.

 

Wlad v Ibragimov and Wlad v Thompson must have been faked. There's no way a real fight could be so horribly pathetic.
