    Eh, not sure about that.

You wouldn't catch Hopkins dead in the ring without a voice he trusted and someone he felt KSAB - really, in his case, anyone except Bro Nazim - and Hopkins is far more the sort of boxer who could 'go it alone' than Mosley, whose ring IQ has never honestly been all that high (remember all that Papa Jack "power-boxing" Kool-Aid he drank? He actually thought his dad had invented some new style, which Jim Lampley succinctly pointed out was literally just "being a boxer-puncher"...except super-jittery and without much in the way of a consistent snapping jab...)

...and come to mention it, Sugar did have Richardson - who also recently has kept Steve Cunningham in top form during his own late-career run at HW - in his corner until a few years ago. Why the hell did he ditch him? Idiot.

Antonio Margarito DESERVES another date with Steroid ShaMe Mosely. This time a fair level fight. No Juicing Let Vada do the testing. Put a gag on Nazim Richardson's lying mouth so he cannot scream he sees imaginary
plaster blocks again. A level; fight & Tony kicks Moselys Ped's soaked ass

Nazim Richardson won't be involved. Mosley dumped him in 2012 and replaced him with his father Jack - actually, the last time he was randomly offered an undeserved world title shot by the WBA at 147lb (then held by Malignaggi, a fight that never materialized...instead Mosley would take on Malignaggi's previous challenger Pablo Cano, while Malignaggi would lose his belt to Broner)

Anyway, good luck to anyone "putting a gag on" Roberto Durán.

Even at 64 years old, I could see him losing his temper and laying the smack down on Margarito and his entire camp. :yep

It totally amazes me why Bernard Hopkins trusts Nazim Richardson. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
What REALLY happened between Bernard & Bouie Fisher I wonder ?? When I knew them they were more like Father & son We sat & they told stories of their times together . Like when one promotor booked them into a flea bag motel they left & spent the nights in Bouie's car the place was so bad

That's exactly it though. He's never been a rigorously devout, cerebral fighter like Hopkins. Presumably it's a little late to start now, or at least unrealistic.
He's always relied primarily on his immense physical attributes. Never been good at adapting. When faced with taller guys with a jab, he didn't figure them out, he had no clue. Which strikes me as the kind guy who doesn't take direction particularly well.

Which is why it should be all the more important now, with his physical talents rapidly dissipating (whatever remains of them), for him to have a sound authoritarian voice who KSAB, and for him to heed that voice - rather than get further and further lost in the clouds (aka up his own ass) because that just isn't going to work for him. Three decades of relying on speed, all of a sudden you aren't very fast anymore - you're in whitewater rapids without a paddle. Would be nice to have an experienced rafter by your side keeping 'er steady.

Bernard did not want to pay Fisher anymore and chose Nazim because he was cheaper. Hopkins has a lot of money and no kids but is a ****ing cheapskate.:patsch

Durán last fought in July of 2001.

Honestly, the career of his new protégé has been rocky terrain ever since then. Sure, he added the ODLH rematch and stoppages of Mayorga x2, El Feroz x2 and Margarito by savaging to his résumé - but he is also 11-9-1 in that span, with some very embarrassing moments (dominated in just about every points defeat except Cotto; stopped by/quit against Mundine when he blew his back out from exerting fairly little effort; and that hideously ugly draw with Mora...)

I'm not sure that's all that much of a net-positive for Shane, tbh.

I see that, and if I thought he seriously planned to change his style to be better suited to his current attributes, I'd agree. But he's had guidance his whole career, seemingly without paying it too much mind. If he didn't do it then, when he was cementing his HoF place and had an ATG place in his sights, I don't see it as likely he's more motivated to do so now.
It is a little odd to change up now though, with probably just a couple of money fights left in him. Unless he has designs on a Bhop-esque extension I'm unaware of?

Hopkins quite plainly has a lot of respect for & trust in Richardson, whatever else there may have been going on behind the scenes.

That's the word in Philly. Hopkins may trust Nazim and Nazim is working well with B-Hop, but Hopkins just up and fired Fisher with no real explanation.

I cannot believe that as they were so close Bernard said he owed Bouie a lot he helped turn his life around. If I had to guess I'd say it was that POS Richardson behind that break up
I believe Bernard converted to the muslim religion like Richardson too

You don't have to run around a ring to be elusive, Duran was a master of stand your ground defense. Saves an old man from exherting to much energy. Mosely can take note!
