I'd argue he DID beat Brian Nielsen but got utterly robbed. He'd have owned the record of oldest world champ ever. He'd have been 49. Would have been a perfect cap to his career.

funny that fighters sharing the ring with them would say the opposite, that Tyson prime was better. Bruno, Biggs, McCall, Ruddock, Holy but fans watching from the sidelines bet on Lennox and so confidently.

 

I don't know about that--prime Lenox was definitely a force--but peak Tyson had a ferocity that was on another level!

Trying to avoid obvious ones like Ali-Berbick or Tyson-McBride and looking for more competitive fights. Not 100% or 99% sure, but picks I would feel pretty confident in.

Miguel Cotto-Shane Mosley: I’d pick the Mosley of the late 90s/early 00s to beat Cotto, I’ll go with a late stoppage. Competitive but not close.

Oscar De La Hoya/Felix Trinidad-Pernell Whitaker: I’d pick Whitaker to win a clear decision over Oscar in his younger years, anywhere from 135-147. I had their 97’ fight even. I think Tito has a better chance than Oscar due to his straight right hand, a key weapon against southpaws. I’d still make a 93-94 Whitaker the favorite though over Tito at 147.

Kostya Tszyu-Julio Cesar Chavez: I favor Chavez of the late 80s/early 90s to beat peak Tszyu at 140. Chavez was such a skilled pressure fighter, very adept at slipping shots or rolling with them, and had an iron chin. He cut off the ring very well and was a terrific combo puncher. I think he’d be able to disrupt Tszyu’s rhythm and gradually break him down and stop him in the late rounds.
